When we were in the states in August this year, we heard some locals moaning about the cost of fuel, whilst we were queueing at a local supermarket checkout. When Ray told them the cost of a gallon of petrol over here they thought he was joking. When they realised he was serious they decided maybe they were not as bad off as they had thought.[msnsmile2]
They really couldn't beleive we actually pay what we do!!!

That's not bad at all - from memory, last time we had a 7 seater in June, we used to pay something like $25 or slightly more to fill it up at a normal gas station and the gas prices have increased quite a bit since then.

It usually costs me about $40 to fill up my minivan. Obviously, John, you don't wait for that low fuel light to come on!

We laugh at the petrol price, we take the Gold option which includes the Petrol and extra cover etc.

When you think of the price here, its a joke!!

Less than a quid a gallon in the US!!

The govt here should be [gun][gun][gun][gun][gun][gun][gun][gun]

Mind you when you think about it, they do have other things that are really expensive, like their medical care, although we all moan about the NHS I for one wouldn't want to be paying the kind of medical insurance they have to in the US, so its all swings and roundabouts really.[msnsmile]

Well that should not really be a problem, Liesa, if you are adequately insured for your holiday - it really is a priority to get a good insurance with plenty of cover, and we always pay the very small amount extra so that we have no excess to pay if we should need a visit to a Dr or hospital. Having been taken very ill in Orlando just over a year ago I cannot fault the wonderful care that I received, and we were certainly glad that we paid out for good medical insurance as it did not cost us a penny - though it was thousands of dollars!

Whilst nobody wants or expects to need medical care on holiday, in the USA it is absolutely vital to be properly covered.
