Thanks to everyone for their very kind comments and platitudes!!!!!

I have just got the laptop back and to my joy, all my pictures are still on it!!!! I am no computer whizzkid and it transpires that although the memory chips were taken, the pictures are actually saved on my hard drive!!!!!!! As soon as I can find out how to post pictures, I will put some on here

That's very good to hear. I hate when anything is lost and having accidentally deleted some of my own Orlando pictures last spring, I know how you must have felt. All's well that ends well - at least in your case.

Now this is your conscience speaking ... get them onto CDs as soon as possible and keep them somewhere safe. Computer hard drives, whilst good, are not guaranteed to be 100% reliable so always try to make sure you have at least 2 copies of your digital photos. Three is better!

Steve, that is the first thing I did when I found out they were still on there!!!!! and yes I made two copies[msnsmile2]
