    Lovely Sunset Tonight

There was a lovely sunset tonight. I watched it all the way down 192 as I was driving back from the gym. I'm now back at the villa scowling at the Nikon; which through no fault of its own is in the kitchen, where I left it. My little Canon snappy is in the bedroom, where I left it. Neither of them were with me at the time, which is why this is posted in the General Chat area and not the photos forum.

And I bought the Canon a few years ago specifically so that I could always carry it around with me just so that whenever an opportunity arose (like a good sunset) I could snap away.

So I have a tip, as much for myself, as for all budding photographers ...

The best camera you can get - is the one that you'll carry around with you always.

As fate would have it I had a tripod in the boot that probably cost 3 times as much as the little Canon digi did. C'est la vie!

Saw it Steve, it was awesome wasn't it.
I had the camera but nowhere to stop so no piccies from me either.

To try and describe what I saw was the reddy pinky orange reflecting up onto some light cloud giving it an upside down pink snow effect...make sense? No? thought not!!!
It was some sight, the wife and I did mention it was particularly lovely.

    Brizzle.

I was over at Celebration just as the sun was dropping through the horizon Brizzle and I thought to myself, boy that would be nice if there was a bit of scattered cloud for the sun to reflect off.

Lo and behold, ten minutes later as I was halfway down 192 there was the scattered cloud with the most awesome pinks and reds and oranges showing all over the sky. I did a quick mental work out of how fast I could get back to the villa to grab the camera, realised that there would be no way I would make it so I just enjoyed the drive and the view. I had a Hed Kandi, Beach House mix CD playing and the smooth house/disco mix just seemed to go really well with the view.

    Hi Steve,

No sign of the sun at home or a sunset for that matter!!

If you like Beach House have you every listened to any Cafe del Mar? There are now 11 albums and the chillout ambient music is so good for sunsets as it comes from a bar in Ibiza thats famous for its sunsets!! "Cafe del Mar was born to put music to sunsets" www.cafedelmarmusic.com [msnsmile]

Oh I remember cafe del mar. We stayed just around the corner from it.I'm glad it hasn't changed its name in all those years. I went when I was 19 which was a looooooong time ago.[msnembarrased]

I remember flying from Atlanta to Orlando a few years ago and there was the most incredible sunset that went all the way between the two places. A huge swathe of orange, gold, red, russet etc hues all blended into a thick band with no clouds at all. I've never seen anything like it before or since.

There is no sunshine today. It's really cloudy and colder than yesterday. I don't think we'll be able to help with a sunset photo unless things change this afternoon.

Blott - your sunset sounds gorgeous. Isn't it great to have memories like that.

I have a couple of the Cafe del Mar discs Lucy. I'm really into that laid back Ibiza chilled out scene. The other great discs I love are the Winter Chill and Served Chilled sets from Hed Kandi. As well as sunsets they go great on a Sunday morning with a coffee or two.

Hope this helps to jog your memory. I took this from our driveway at Sunset Lakes last Friday afternoon. Fortunately being at the house my camera was handy!
