3 would be my preference for the quietest route

There is yet another option. Very similar to your Option 3, but I would leave SR417 at Exit 3 and go West on the Osceola Parkway till you turn left into Sherberth Road, which soon joins US192 very close to Formosa Gardens. I would prefer this because you have to drive less on US192 and Osceola Parkway is less crowded and quicker (fewer lights) then US192.

As hubby does the driving, I don't take too much notice, but if Nostromo says his way reduces time on the 192, I would say that sounds like an extremely good option! We dipped on to it a few times in April, to do a small stretch( Nightmare! and time of day didn't appear to matter )after a couple of times we learnt to take other routes for our trips!
sounds silly i know but i dont care how long it takes me within reason!!! could drive around orlando all day (not every day tho')![]()

If what I heard from an engineer in the "192 beautification project" (or something sounding like it!) is true, it could become even better in the near future, especially for the villa communities on the western end of US192 and along US27. We will be able to go straight across at those traffic lights near AK Lodge (instead of turning into Sherberth Road), past the lodge itself and less than half a mile further merges with the last bit of Black Lake Road as it joins the US192. This road actually exists now and can be seen if one goes on Black Lake Road; it is the barricaded bit pointing towards AK Lodge. It needs some refurbishment and the 'rights' sorted out (since part of it runs through Disney property).

I would agree with Nostromo. Once you are used to the Sherberth Road route you will find it very useful for getting to and from other places east of Formosa Gardens.
My brother in law makes deliveries for his business in the Kissimmee/Orlando area every day and he told me about the Sherberth Road route. (I have to admit - the first time I kept right and finished up in the Animal Kingdom gate area, but it was late at night after the park was closed, and on the left side of the gate area is a small link road to put you back onto the Animal Kingdom Lodge road).
The thing to remember is when you see the AK gates looming - keep to your left.
When you come out of Sherberth/192 lights youre almost at Splendid China.

I agree with Nostromo but it's really 6 and half a dozen between option 3 and the "back door" route. The first time you usually make the AK mistake bccause the slip road is at the side of the AK entrance lot. The first time in the opposite direction can be a little challenging also until you get your bearings.

Thanks guys. But as I have said above, even the Sherberth Road shorcut could become redundant in 18 months or less when the Black Lake Road extension reopens. It will shorten the route to US27 by 4 miles or so, not to mention save time.

Is that going to be SR429 toll road??
That is on the expressway authority website as under construction and appears to go west around Disney from the north and join the 192.

I don't know the road's designation, but you could be right. You get onto this road if you actually go towards AK Lodge at the traffic lights instead of turning left into Sherberth Road. Of course, this part of the proposed bypass is in Disney property, but a few hundred metres or so ahead, it 'comes out' as part of an old and disused road that eventually joins Black Lake Road just before the latter ends at US192. You can actually see the flimsy metal barricade that has been erected at the Black Lake Road end with AK Lodge in the background.
One think is certain. If and when this road reopens, going to WDW and beyond to I-4 is going to be far easier and the route will become about 4 miles shorter.

This is the projected map of the SR429 from the expressway authprity site.
The dotted lines are county lines and the red and green lines are SR429.
