Help, villa booking has been changed twice

Can someone please help me. We booked a villa with one of the villa companies, way back in June 04, and paid in full. We were then booked for 4 bed, 2 bath, pool and spa in Windsor Palms. Two months later they sent an email that sorry, our reservation has been changed and we will now be in Emerald Island. We checked Emerald Island, and thought well, not bad, and agreed. Now we have just been told that the villa no longer exist, as the owner has withdrawn it, and we will now be in Terra Verda. I emailed them abck that no we want to be where we paid for and not be shoved around. Can anyone advise what to do. Pleeeease.

    Hi Jtijani

The first thing to do is to check the small print in your contract. If it specifically specifies a villa in Windsor Palms then either that's what you should get. If they are unable (or unwilling) to locate you in Windsor Palms then you could consider asking for a refund.

If the small print doesn't specifically state where the villa will be located the bad news is that you might not have much comeback. It will very much depend on what your contract says.

Have a look at your booking terms and conditions and see what they say.

If you decide to travel again you could also consider booking one of the villas through the websites attached to these forums. That way you are dealing directly with the owner and that's the specific villa you get. It takes away any doubt and in the end you get a much better experience (and usually villa) too.

I have heard of this happening before. I agree with Steve read the small print and if possible get a refund. This is the problem with booking via a company with many villas on their books, there is no individual treatment that you would expect to receive on a site like this. Good luck and enjoy Florida

I would definately go with trying to get a refund, like that you can book the exact villa that YOU want where YOU want it. Plus you have the bonus of all us helpful owners giving you all the help and information that you could ever want and know that the villa you get is the one that you booked ! I have heard tales of some of these companies that guests have got to florida nad found that no such villa exsists, at least here they are all verified.

just wanted to add, the villa we have rented is not through here! and we booked ours through a local free paper, we were very dubious for starters sending off a deposit for a couple of hundred pounds, then a few months later sending off the balance is scarey! we dont know these people from Adam!
i was very lucky to get the villa we did, so much so we're going back there in 3 weeks, but it couldve been a different story, but now after joining this forum and having verified owners on here, i feel so much more at ease, will probably be choosing a different one from here , well everything will be done through here next time!!!!!!! next time......see am off already!

Sites like this one do let you have piece of mind. Every villa has to be verified but you still deal directly with the owner and know exactly what you are getting for the money.

Jtijani, you need to check your contract to see if you can get a full refund and then book another villa by using this site. If you can not get a full or most of your money back, you need to insist on seeing the villa you have now been booked into, checking it has the same facilities etc. I'm sure it'll all work out - Good luck!

I'm suspecting that there will be no recourse in this situation unfortunately as typically with these companies, they generally reserve the right to put you wherever they please. When you book with a private owner through this site, what you SEE is what you GET! Period!

It must be frustrating and maybe disappointing for you.But if it helps,Terre Verde is a lovely new resort that Im sure you'll enjoy. But I dont think it is all finished yet(I may be wrong and someone will post if I am ),so you may want them to confirm it wont be in a "construction " part of the resort.
Other than that, have a great holiday, youll love florida,

Tour operators are out to make as much money as possible, The owners that enter contracts with MCs that rent out to tour operators have to give 3 months notice on most occasions to withdraw their villa from the scheme.

As already said on a previous post, if you deal with the owner direct you have piece of mind.
No use to you at the moment I know.
But if you manage to get a refund, please consider using this site to find what you want.
We are all freindly and willing to help where ever possible.

This site offers everything you need for your holiday including good free advice.

Lets hope you sort it out soon and get what you paid for in the first place.

Can we ask when you are going?
Have you had any luck with the travel company?

IF you cannot get your money and that is an IF, which I would try very hard to do, all the communities offered to you are all very nice and hopefully the home they finally put you in will be too. As they are all fairly new but I do agree with the others if there is no small print on there terms and conditions to try to get your money back and find a lovely home on this site as what you see on here is what you get!
