First of all, anyone under 14 doesn't have to attend the American Embassy for a visa. Secondly, the kids don't need a visa as long as your friends get them their own passports before the visit.
blott
If they get the childrens passports before the Oct 26th deadline next year (as it stands at present unless it is extended again) then the children wont need visas.
Blott, just clarifying the deadline in case anyone is planning to go for Christmas and takes it to mean they wont need visas.
Steph, thanks! Just clarifying too...
The requirement for children to have individual passports is already in force and it's the biometic passport requirements that have been postponed until 26 October 2005. http://www.usembassy.org.uk/cons_web/visa/niv/mrp.htm
As you say, as long as people have an individual passport before that date, they don't need to apply for a visa unless they're not qualified for visa waiver for any reason. http://www.usembassy.org.uk/cons_web/visa/niv/vwp.htm
blott
