    What's Orlando like at Christmas

    Hi,
I'm staying in one of your villas in November (booked by my lovely sister-in-law). This will be my 1st time in a villa and 1st time driving (scary). I know I am going to find it a revelation. I would like to try Xmas/New Year sometime in the future. I know I'll need a jacket for the evenings but is it warm enough through the day to sunbathe (I don't do cold on holidays) as I would like some 'me' time by the pool. Also how busy are the parks - We went Easter this year and it was a nightmare.

    Sue

Like Easter, Christmas/New Year is also pretty crowded unfortunately! But, the trade-off is all the special festivities for the holidays! It does tend to warm up during the afternoons enought to sunbathe.

You will need a jacket for the evening time and yes it is busy especially christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
It should be 70-75f day time so it is warm enough to sunbathe.
You will enjoy it as it is a special time of year.

We closed on our villa at the beginning of December and the weather was wonderful. The decorations and extra Christmas festivities around Orlando are fabulous.
Trying New Year this year flying out on the 27th Dec, so will let you know how we get on.

There is a full section of the forum dedicated to Christmas take a look there for more information.

Our favourite time of the year to visit Walt Disney World is in December, preferably before Christmas week when the parks are very busy. You can enjoy the same Christmas attractions but without the crowds by visiting during the first two weeks in December - but don't tell anyone we said that! [msnwink]

Thank you for all your replies - It's definately worth thinking about. If I had tonnes of holdays I'd go for 3 weeks so that I'd get a cheaper flight

The parks can be OK in the run up to Christmas, depending when the American kids finish school, as people don't have time to go. After Christmas though is very busy.

I happily sunbathe at this time of year. You can have days of bad weather, but the wonderful thing is they never last long and it gives you the excuse to go shopping. The sales at this time of year are awsome [clap]

Don't worry about the driving-I find it far easier than in the UK as everything is so logical-try looking on the web for some basic driving differences between the US and UK (I can't post a link)
but overall go and enjoy every minute you'll never be the same again.

We think it is safer in FLORIDA to drive no narrow roads and there are lots of police around, So keep the traffic speed down you can look forward to a good time .
CHRISTMAS is a busy time as many americans only have a long weekend then go home so yopu can see quieter roads after this time but nice and warm in the day time and evening warmer than uk .No snow only man made in CELEBRATION VILLAGE well worth a visit to see childrens faces so try christmas next time .
