I costed a flydrive with Virgin Holidys and flight only with Virgin Atlantic + car hire from this site, there was almost £1,000 difference. So obviously we booked with Virgin atlantic, this was for the same flight!!!VA release seats 11months in advance which was long enough for us[msnsmile][msnsmile]
Virgin holidays release their holidays early, so get seats on the flights first. then the remainder will be released to the public.

hi alison ,yes you can booked your flights as a flydrive before they are allocated by virgin atlantic,you book via virgin holidays but when you get to the car hire option leave the default option as sub compact and 7 days ,also on the insurance and options screen,when you get to prices you should get this
No prepaid package selected .......and the total flight prices

We did that for next June as well - booked a fly-drive with Virgin Hols but didnt take their insurance and just took compact car and we have booked a car through this website and it has worked out a lot cheaper than taking flights only with Virgin atlantic and then booking a car separately. We will just not pick up the Virgin hols car at airport.[msnsmile]
I just want to book as soon as poss, but dont fancy getting the flydrive with VH. Was going to get the flights thu VA and car of here....now am confused

Why not get the flights and car hire through here? You will still get Virgin flights [8D]
A lot depends on the date of travel./ and how flexible a fare category you require. The more restrictions on refund or transferability the cheaper the ticket. I checked the link from here and had a quote for flights it was more expensive than VA, as was a flydrive with Virgin Holidays and not taking the car ins and booking own car hire. This was because I wanted to take their car hire for 1 weeek then do another 14 days independantly and they put a £30 PP per week for independant travel.
I costed Virgin Holidays with car for the duration both with and without ins. In short every permutation I culd think of..... still for our dates in early July (pre school hols) it worked out cheaper to buy flights from VA and car hire from here.
We paid £1950 for 4 adults and 1 child flying from Manchester for 17 days[clap]
Funway were cheaper if we could have gone from Gatwick and had been lucky to get 5 of their 12 seat per day allcation so they may be worth checking with.[msnsmile]

How is it that this site gets the VA flights but you cant book them thru VA itself?

Because the company they use (Charter Travel) sell so many flights they have special deals I think ?? John will be able to answer in more depth.
