    Immigration

Because it is such a while since the last time we went to the US, can i ask if it is still the same routine as when you disembark and collect your luggage you then go over to Immigration with the form that you complete on the plane??
    Probably got this all wrong[msneek].
Would be very grateful of any advice.[msnsmile2]

There are two forms to fill in one foe each person and then the one for the head of the family.

You go through immigration first and had in your green forms, then you pick up your luggage, then the other form which is for the head of the family is handed.

When you have collected your luggage, you then go through immigration, that is where you hand in either the green visa waiver form or the white visa form if you have travelled on a visa(one of each family member). You then proceed to customs and hand in the ustoms for, this is just one per family.

So there is a form to complete even if you travel on a visa?

At Chicago/Boston/Miami/New York/Sanford/San Francisco(havn't flown direct to MCO for UK for years) as 'cericrowley' states you go through immigration first and then collect your luggage.

At immigration you hand in your green I-94W visa waiver form(one for each person travelling) and your blue and white customs declaration form -CBP form 6059B (one per family) Immigration retain the top part of the I-94W and staple the bottom part in your passport(or they should) they give you back the customs declaration. Then collect luggage and hand in customs form to customs.

Yes, The white one is only one per family name (If my memort serves me correctly)

So if you are all named Jones then you fill one in with that name.
If you are Smith and some are Jones you have to fill 2 in!!

You usually get these on the plane and they explain how to fill them in!!

    Should be no hassle!!

Just remember to take a pen!!

Who decides who the head of a family really is? I mean Americans tend to be a bit old-fashioned in this respect and might assume that the man is the head of the family. We all know that it is not necessarily the case. [msnwink].

Our usual head of the family is whoever fills in the forms on the plane while the other one controls the kids (actually usually Mrs MTP as she has much neater handwriting!!). When we were going through Boston in August, however, I wished we had filled in two customs forms so that one of us could have gone ahead to get the car hire organised as our luggage was delayed coming off of the flight.

    Liz,

There are 2 forms that you could complete for the Visa (one per person)

    1. The (green) Visa Waiver Program Form
    or
    2. The (white) Visa Form if you have a US Visa

The other form is the Customs Form - White, which is one per household.

[/quote]You collect your luggage after going through Immigration (the green visa waiver form is for Immigration). When you have cleared Immigration, you then collect your luggage and go with your luggage through US Customs (which is where you use your white and blue customs form). It is only the white and blue Customs form which is one per family - the green visa waiver forms are one for each person.
