    Quick Passport Question

    Hi everyone,

We have just returned from our first trip and i am determined to go again next year. The thing is my Mother and Father in laws passports run out in April 2005, does anyone know when the British passport office are going to start supplying the new Biometric passports, because as i understand it if they apply for a new passport after October 26th but before the new biometrics are available they will require a visa which involves a trip to London.

Have i got all of this right guys[?]

    Thanks

    Mack

I rang the passport agency last week as I was in the same postion. they told e that they had not set a date as yet for the bimetric launch. therefore I applied for a new passport and had the remainder of my old one added to the new one so it now lasts for 10 years and 9 months.

I was like Amy my passport ran out in March 2005. I sent it early and have a passport for 10 years and 7 months. And the bonus is it took 2 weeks to come back and i didn't use the post office service.Clever me.

    Hi Mack,

I dont know how old your inlaws are, but are you aware that there is a new ruling going through Parliment that over 75's can get free 10 year Passports?

This is because it was deemed that, if they were not involved in the war directly, they will have had made some contribution to the war so the Gvmt is giving them free passports.

Last time I checked with the passport agency they said that they anticipate the free passports being available in January '05, but have no date yet.

    Diane.

Be good if they did Diane, Micks uncle who is 75 has always wanted to go through the channel tunnel, just once, but says its not worth spending the money on a passport to do so.
