    Hi

We are also getting married in Florida in May - Sarasota. It is surprisingly much cheaper. You can get married in a lot places, I would recommend a wedding planner as you have just got about 5 weeks, they will be able to assist you every step of the way. I have been out twice now sorting out my wedding!!

We found it easier to hire the mens DJ's and dresses are a fraction of the price. I got mine from a dress shop in florida Mall, which specialises in Prom dresses.

You have to go to the local city hall to get a marriage licence, which lasts a cetain number of days. I do not have any websites but just put in the search engine florida or orlando weddings and you will see what is available.

good Luck, any more questions please feel free

    Michele

You can get the licence and get married at the same time (it's a bit like our registry office wedding over here). You need to take proof of identity, birth certificate, passport etc, and if either of you have been married before you need proof of end of marriage eg death certificate if spouse died or decree absolute if by divorce etc.
You can apply print out the forms to apply so you can fill them in ready, I'll see if I can find the offical website again.

My daughter got married in Mt Dora just over 2 years ago-it was unbelievably easy and unless there are hordes of you I don't a wedding planner is needed.

We arranged it on our holiday trip in May and they got married when we went back in October.

Unlike here-you can get married anywhere in Florida as it's the person performing the ceremony who needs to be licensed. It's the place in the UK as well as the person performing the ceremony.

My daughter also got married in a prom dress. We got a lovely notary called Jody from the Mt Dora area and the photographer also came from the town. He just charged us for an hour of his time.

PS the bride doesn't look like that now-she's almost 41 weeks pregnant!

If you would like to view the photos it's here
    www.nettavilla.com/wedding1.htm

You can see the lovely Darst Victorian Manor in the background and the reception was held at the garden gate in tearooms in Mt Dora.

The hats are just for a laugh and are provided by the tea rooms.

Because of the extreme heat (95 degrees)In October-we asked the men to dress casual.

My daughter's flowers were arranged in a little flower shop in Kissimmee which they picked up the night before and kept in the fridge overnight.

My daughter carried them up in water in the car-and they actually lasted a week.

The cake was courtesy of Publix and her dress was from Dillards at the florida Mall-and was a fraction of the cost of one here-and so very pretty.

Congratulations and good luck and if I can be of more help-please ask.

It was a beautiful and special day-and over far too quickly. It was so lovely all the men stood and cried! We women are made of sterner stuff!
