I would like to take the opportunity to thank everyone for their response to my queries. It was really kind of you all.
From what I have read then I guess we will take an internal flight to Vegas and on to the Grand Canyon. Has anyone been in March and if so what is the temperature like that time of year in Vegas and also on the West coast?
One final query,,reading what Robert5988 wrote then what damage has been done due to the Hurricanes and has the Gulf coast taken less damage than the atlantic and Cocoa beach.
Keep smiling and be happy folks.
Mick.

If you are taking a senic flight to the canyon use Senic Airlines. They are the best, and by far the safest. They use North Las Vegas Airport. Also a great place to have breakfast and watch the airplanes and the morning mountains from their great rooftop reasurant.
Have a great trip.

Mick,
Lisi who contributes a lot to the forum is staying in a villa in Rotonda on the Gulf coast at the moment. I know she was planning to do a trip report. When shes back next week you can get a first hand report from her of the damage.
I know several areas have a great deal of damage but our villa in Rotonda was fine and the local area in general didn't suffer too badly.
Any specific areas on the Gulf you have in mind?

Hi Andrew.
Well not sure at present just where on the Gulf Coast as my preference would be the Atlantic coast simply because its an east drive to Orlando for the day but if there has been a lot of damage as Robert5988 stated then that's what is making me think again.
I went in 1998 and stayed at Hudson Bay but was not really impressed with the beaches there unless I miised something and it seemed to take a long tme to get from Orlando where I stayed t he first week to the Gulf Coast.
Mick.
Hi Mick,
Where we are there are some fantastic beaches but it is 2 and 1/2 hours to Orlando.
I don't know the Tampa area myself but someone might be able to help you as it is obviously a lot closetr to Orlando.
Might be worth putting a question in the Gulf Coast section of the forum.
Have you thought about a 2 centre holiday; 1 week in a villa in Orlando and then a second week on the gulf?

Jeff/Amy.
Q Do you mean Scenic as this is the only one I can find on the web..If so then the tour I am going to go for is the Flight / Helicopter/Boat and same back to Vegas. I have chickened out of the white water rafting. I really must be getting old.
Thanks for the advise.

You can fly from Orlando to Las Vegas and spend about a week there. Remember that you will be saving a few days by flying to LV instead of driving. These days, there is more than enough to see and do in LV for a week. Try to visit the nearbt Lake Mead area and Hoover Dam.
There is a local flight from LV to Grand Canyon, but if you fancy driving, you can easily do it in 4 to 5 hours to the South Rim. Steve is right, North Rim will be closed in March.
As to the weather, Las Vegas will be warm in March, maybe even HOT around midday. Grand Canyon will be nippy, especially towards the evening and early in the morning, times for the glorious sunset and rise. You will certainly need a good jacket.
