This is interesting as I always thought that it was a kind of outside loo/washbasin to save you trapsing thru the villa when wet? Have I been under the wrong impression all this time?

From www.dictionary.com A shelter on a beach or at a swimming pool used as a bathhouse. A small tent used as a dressing room beside the sea or a swimming pool.

Where I live they are small tents like the big wedding tents...but for just a few people to sit under.....sometimes they even have bug nets around them.......

I suspect your cabana will be the same as at our villa Carrie. It is basically an outside bathroom attached to the villa with a toilet and handbasin inside and an outside shower head.
We thought it would be a useful addition to ours as our floorplan does not have a bathroom accessible directly from the pool area so it is safer if you have young children who need the bathroom "NOW" as they invariably do, so you dont leave others unattended.
The shower is great as well as it means after a dip you can have a quick rinse off and then dry in the sun.

I thought it would be odd to have a tent one in a rental.....it would be half way to China right now after all the storms........[laugh]

If it was Chrizzy we could offer 2 centre holidays.

I think the parasols that have a sort of grass covering over them might also be called cabanas.

The cabanas I have used at the Gulf Coast resorts and Miami have been wooden sunbeds with a cover to protect from Sun or Wind .

When I was younger it was one of my favourite chocolate bars! Not sure exactly what it is in this context but sounds sort of like cabin, so maybe it is an outside area to dry off or loo?? Normally called poolbaths though. Will be watching to find out exactly what it is though!
