Independent traveller !!

Has any one ever heard of this, I have booked flights with Virgin for Aug 2005 and been charged with £150:00 for independant traveller.
Have always booked with Virgin and never had to pay this charge ant thoughts

No just flights, this will be the 3rd flight only we have booked and never had topay it before. Surely they can`t just slap this on with out telling you,

Think I would query it with Virgin, was this Virgin Holidays as opposed to Virgin Atlantic.

I've never heard of it either Kym and if they added it without telling you before you booked I'd definitely be asking for an explanation. Summer flights are dear enough already without surcharges just because you choose not to make use of their extras.

How very odd??

Was the £150 for one person or a group? Was it VA or V Hols?

That is such a large amount, you must ask them to explain what it is.

We paid independent traveller when we booked through Kuoni to go to the caribbean, it was because we had booked the flights with them and a hotel for the first week but then we had another few weeks of island hopping where we booked all our flights hotels etc ourselves. Have you done something like this or booked through Virgin holidays and refused their hotel or car hire maybe??

We have booked a Fly-Drive with Virgin Hols that comes with free car but have not taken their insurance as we intend making our own arrangments as said before we have done this before without incurring this charge.
Spoke to someone at VH this morning and they said that as long as I send both invoices back to them they will ammend the charge, but they can`t say what the charge is all about as they don`t know.......How strange don`t you think
