We flew with AA in April to Orlando via Dallas. We were very impressed. Service is excellent. Loads more legroom than Virgin economy. Seat back TV on the international flight - not on the domestic flight but that was only 2 hours so wasn't a problem.
Soft drinks were free on the international flight - alcohol is $5 a go on both flights. We got 1 free soft drink on the domestic flight.

The seating is 2-5-2 on the transatlantic flight. Great for us as we are 2 adults and 2 children so like to sit by the windows.
On the domestic flight it was 3-3.

We would definitely fly with them again.

We flew AA last Christmas and they were excellent. Unfortunately our plane broke down and we missed our connecting flight but we had great rooms in an airport hotel in Chicago, too many meal vouchers and a flight the next day to Orlando.

We fly AA out of preference -have just booked our seats for January .Loads of legroom plenty of choice of flights and routes excellent service plus you can choose your own seat in the aircraft when you book.

We are flying AA via Dallas on 31st October from Gatwick.
A late arrival (9.15 pm) at Orlando but all immigration done at Dallas and we got 2 seats for the price of one through a promotion earlier this year.

Have flown with AA several times and the main plus is the extra leg room - they are the only airline to have taken OUT seats in economy to give their passengers MORE space - average seat pitch 32-34 inches - far better than Virgin. We would not hesitate to fly with them. They are very good.

However, be aware that on any forum, if you ask which is best you are bound to get a lot of negative comments as these tend to have more impact than if you had a good flight - this is no criticism of people's comments, as they are very valuable in making a choice. There are, of course airlines which one would avoid because of cramped conditions, but you will always find someone who loves them!

Hope you have a good flight, sure you will with AA, and they are usually cheaper.

Have a great time, and remember, its like having a baby, once the pain is over you start thinking about the next one!! We are all addicted to going to Florida, and for most people the flight is not too bad, and well worth any discomfort! And at least the pain doesn't last 21 years like it does when you have kids (only joking, wouldn't swap mine for the world - well a world cruise, perhaps!)

I like AA very much and would prefer it above ALL other airlines to the US, including Virgin. Nothing extra-special, but AA is typically hassle free right from the airport staff to cabin crew on board. Also, AA are properly responive to telephone or e-mailed queries before you travel. Above all, their flight times seem more convenient than others.
