My friend is all booked up to go to orlando at Christmas but has an appointment with the American Embasy in London on the 13th October for his visa as has criminal record from 12 years ago for a fight at school. Just wondered if anyone knows how long we will have to wait for his visa to come through if he is granted access?? Any help on this subject will be most appreciated.
Usually you get your passport back about 7-10 working days later, so it will be with him in plenty of time for your Christmas trip.

Maybe it has changed but don't they do it while you wait and wait and wait, if you have an appointment?
They tell you on the day whether you get the Visa or not Dave. If you are granted a Visa then they keep your passport, insert the Visa and then have to mail it back to you. This is what takes the 7-10 working days.
Parrot, make sure that your friend takes every piece of information that they have asked for and that he has the proof that he has paid in cash for the Visa. If he has missed anything out then he won't even get inside the building!!!! Check and double check.
When we went in October 2003, we saw people being turned away by the checkers outside because they had incomplete documentation, or hadn't paid the fee. These checkers walk up and down the queue making sure that applicants have everything needed.

oh thanks for that been bit worried as thought i read somewhere that the visa can take 16-20 weeks to come back and of course this would be too late
