I think you will find both strikes are for just the weekend to cause as much problems
as possible, then it will be the french air traffic to have their turn

Airline refuellers at BAA's Heathrow airport set to strike over pay

LONDON (AFX) - Workers responsible for refuelling airliners at London's Heathrow airport are set to strike for two days this weekend, threatening more strife for passengers at the country's busiest airport, owned by BAA PLC.

In a statement on its website, the Transport and General Workers Union said 40 of its members will down tools on Friday and Saturday following a dispute over pay with aircraft refuelling company AFS.

"This dispute was wholly predictable and could have been avoided if the company had shown that it valued its workforce rather than looking all the time to cut pay to the lowest common denominator," said T&G spokesman Kevin Hall.

The union claimed AFS is responsible for supplying around 40 pct of the aircraft at Heathrow with their fuel.

It said the strike would hit 40 airlines, including British Airways, Virgin Atlantic, Qantas, American Airlines and Air Canada.

Thousands of passengers were left stranded last month after staff shortages and technical glitches forced BA to s[bad language filtered out] scores of flights into and out of Heathrow.

11th-Hour Bid to Avert Airport Strikes

Meetings aimed at averting strikes by workers at Heathrow and Gatwick airports in separate disputes are due to be held, just hours before the industrial action is due to start.

Around 40 workers who refuel aircraft at Heathrow will discuss a new pay offer, although officials at the Transport and General Workers' Union were not expressing much optimism that the deal would be accepted.

The workers are set to walk out for 48 hours from 4.30am on Friday, which the union claims will disrupt flights into and out of Heathrow.

Meanwhile, fresh talks will be held between the TGWU and Ground Servisair to try to settle a row at Gatwick.

Hundreds of baggage handlers and maintenance workers are threatening to strike on Saturday in a row over workloads.

The workers will also strike on September 30 if the dispute is not settled.

The row worsened when a senior shop steward was suspended and the TGWU complained that he had been victimised.

Spoke to Virgin this morning and they said there should be no problems with their baggage handling at Gatwick as they use Aviance rather than Servisair

Your right Chris but that won't bother me as much as not being able to take all the things I have bought for the house over, the crowds I can put up with
