Country & Western bars - recommendations?

    Hi,

Looking for something reasonably lively in the area.

    Any hints?

    Thanks

Neither of the following suggestions is exactly 'Country & Western' but certainly lively and you can get good food as well. PAT O'BRIEN'S in City walk is an excellent bar cum restaurant with a New Orleans theme. Also check out THE GLOBE on Wall Street.

Flight to Nahville? Seriously though, can't think of anything of the top of my head. I believe there is a rodeo in Kissimmee on Fridays??

Is it a family affair, or just adults[?]

    Hi Dave,
Dolly Parton's Dixie Stampede springs to mind - probably lots of good C & W
    in there.
Used to be a Country place in Church Street Station, but think it's closed now.
Also one in Disneys Pleasure Island a couple of years back, may still be there.

If you like C & W be sure to tune into k92fm on your rental car - non stop Country Music. [msnwink]

Isn't DPDS more of a C&W Dinner Show than a 'lively bar' that Espiritdave is asking?

Haven't been yet Nostromo - It certainly is a dinner show, But you can drink, be entertained,
eat and listen to C & W and by all accounts watch people trick riding horses and roping bulls
'til the cows(or bulls!) come home! How lively is that? It's on my list of "to do's" for TWO WEEKS TODAY!! YYYYEEEEEEEEHHHHHAAAAA!

(If I stay on forum for another 15 mins it'll be A WEEK NEXT THURSDAY!!)

I work in music , amongst other things I play Country Music and have to say that for an American State there doesn't seem to be a lot of it going on in Florida. Maybe I haven't found the right places yet. The radio station is serious OK, but the few places I've come across round Kissimmee/Orlando seem a bit "manufactured" like the now defunct Wild Bills on 192.
I heard that the Gaylord Palms belonged to two Nashville concerns and was originally going to host touring Country artists like Garth Brooks etc. but suddenly the name was changed and I never heard any more about the C&W shows.
Might be worth writing a song about trailing round Orlando in a sixteen wheeler in a hurricane looking for a good C & W bar. (Wonder if dollar do sixteen Wheelers?)

Oh Kev don't, that is all we listen to in the car on holiday, hubby loves it and although I do not like to admit it publicly I do not mind it either, although I was brought up on a healthy dose of John Cash, Dolly, Kenny & co!!!!

Alan Jackson is flavour of the sound system at the mo!!

    CDV,
Try some Dierks Bentley / Collin Raye / Tim McGraw / Sammy Kershaw / George Strait /
Darryl Worley / Lonestar / The Tractors / Travis Tritt / Restless Heart /Joe Nichols / Marty Stuart / Toby Keith / Montgomery - Gentry / Suzy Boguss / Mary Chapin - Carpenter / etc.

If you run out of those I can suggest hundreds more !![xx(]

Last time I rented a car k92fm had been left selected on the radio - for the next two weeks it never left that station![msncool]
