    September freak weather? Wedding plans..

    Hi people,

Dont know if we're just panicking or not, but we're supposed to get married a year tomorrow on Sanibel Island. The place we were getting married in is now closed till Nov.

We were thinking of moving our wedding from Sep 05 to April 06 due to hurricane season, bit worried incase the weather this year is the same next year.

What do you think? safer moving to April?

    Many thanks

I think you'd have to be extremely unlucky to find a hurricane interrupts your wedding plans. It's the first time to have one hurricane hit central Florida for nearly 20 years and for two in 40 years.

This really was a very unusual weather time in Florida and whilst there are hurricanes all during hurricane season, they very rarely go inland or make landfall in Florida.

For instance, on Sanibel Island... Hurricane Frederic hit the Gulf Coast in 1979 and between 1990 and 2000 there were none in that area.

By all means move your wedding if it will make you feel less worried about this but please bear in mind that the recent weather is a rare event.

All the very best for your Wedding. Unless it appears that the weather looks like it is going to be VERY severe, my suggestion would be not to postpose the wedding. If there is rain, do NOT let it spoil your big day fun. In fact, you can even make light of it by songs from 'Singin' in the Rain' etc! Have a great day and Good Luck to you both.

I have to be honest, I would pick April anywayNot because of this year's weather at all, but I just think it will be a little cooler (75, and less humid) Bluer skies and leave you with a nice memory for the summer. September still has the humidity and a bit more rain moments, not a problem, unless they came at the moment you do the Walk in THAT dress

Early to mid November is always a lovely time. Temps in the mid 70s and lots of sun. Little, if any rain.

Our guests who just left got married the Friday before Frances hit. The chapel they had scheduled with was destroyed by Charley and their ceremony had to be re-scheduled elsewhere. It was a good thing for them that Frances was so slow moving - they managed to get the wedding in and have a lovely day. Of course, the next 3 days were spent cooped up in total fear! I just received some lovely pictures of their wedding day and the aftermath is already forgotten!
