Daytona has to be one of the best , long sandy beaches and good paddling for the kiddies as the edge of the sea is not to deep .![]()

I would say either Cocoa Beach or Melbourne beach, Both are really good and it takes
about the same amount of time to get to both.

thanks for that - how long are we talking about to get there?
Can't remember how long it took to drive to daytona, i know it was less than an hour, but hubby loved the idea that we could take the car onto the beach!!
Cocoa beach is about an hours drive, and Melbourne maybe 10 minutes less. Also don't forget the beaches on the west coast too. It is about an hour or so to Tampa.
Have a fantastic holiday Ian, you will love Florida![]()

Thanks everyone!!!!
We are also there at halloween, I expect the Disney parks will be fun then?!

The beaches mentioned above are on the Atlantic coast. As said, the beaches are very nice - wide and sandy - but the sea can sometimes be a bit rough if you visit on a windy day (good surfing).
The gulf coast beaches are usually much calmer and the sea temperature is often warmer. We love to visit Clearwater or St Petersburg.
Which ever side you visit, you will find plenty of public parking (usually a few Dollars a day) areas, with toilets, showers, lounger hire, etc.

Hi Ian,
Clearwater and St Pete's for us too! Cocoa Beach is great also but the sand is very different. Cocoa is like tiny crushed shells. Clearwater is like white powder and just runs out of your hand.
