    other peoples children

Hi all, I am travelling to Orlando in October with two children who don't belong to me ( my daughters friends). I'm sure I've seen somewhere on the forum that I will need a letter from their parents giving me permission etc. I have done a search but nothing is coming up. I would be most grateful if anyone can help me out with this.
Also I hope everyone is ok after Charley and Francis, Adam is in Orlando at moment checking up on our villa.

I did this in July when we took 3 of our daughter's friends with us. The parents did the letter below for me, which fortunately I didn't need to use. Make sure that you have the children's insurance policies too. There was mention that it would be a good idea to get the letter notarised, but the parents of our girls didn't do that, mainly because it is not so easy to do in the UK and can be very expensive.

Thanks Carla, have copied your suggested note as my son is bringing his girlfriend on holiday with us next month and we will get her mum to sign a copy of this suggested letter.[msnsmile2]

We have done it before and you will need a letter of some sort to get past imigration. We were stopped on the last visit but we did have a letter with us so we had no problems.

Does anyone know the age limit for requiring a letter, I presume its 18 but I know the US have different age limits for some things.

I would think 18--as that is the age a child is no longer considered a minor, at least by the US government (we parents think otherwise!).

I would make sure you have this letter as when I went to Orlando years ago when my daughter was only 2 I was warned about people who abduct very young children for adoption. I was told to hang on to her as she was considered very cute with blonde hair. It certainly made me watch her all the time and I got some special reins you wrap around your arm that look like telephone wires. Although I am sure that this is extremely rare, the authorities had to act to ensure that people do not travel with someone elses child without permission.

    Hi all,

Thanks for your replies. Once again this forum has come up trumps. Carla, I will use the letter you suggested, many thanks. The girls are all 14 years old, I must be mad offering to take 3 hormonal teenagers to the sunshine state, oh well I see afew more grey hairs appearing after the holiday
