Thanks for your help everyone. This forum is the best I have ever used for helpful, friendly and informed answers and discussion. Is there anything about Orlando that you don't have an answer to? I'll keep thinking of the questions and I'm sure there will be a lot more before we depart next August 6th.
    Thanks again
    Rodney

Experienced the ride a few weeks ago and it was very exhilarating, although when we arrived, late morning, there was a bit of a wait we had to wait about 1 1/2 hours before the ride, and there wasn't alot to do other than walk around, and watch some dude with his baby gator. But very good all the same.

Ask to sit up top with the driver, you get a fantastic view of everything.

The air boat ride on the 192 near Wal-Mart is a self drive affair Tezz and i would imagine not much fun by yourself but perhaps you'd prefer that, I don't know?

We have been on these boats on both our recent visits. We have 2 young children, 4 & 6. they loved it, and so did we. They could not be described as exciting by any stretch of the imagination! They are noisy, slow (about 5mph) but great fun. You can hire a fishing rod and just spend an hour relaxing. The also hire out small electric powered boats that hold 6 people. You can go much further on these and we had one for 2 hours for about $40 (with discount coupons).

You should see some alligators (hopefully right next to the boat within 'touching' distance if you're really lucky) and lots of wonderful birds from herons to cattle egrets, fish eagles, etc, etc. Boat captains will point out any of interest and will also answer questions about any of them and are quite knowledgable. So, if you ever wondered anything about any of the wildlife, that's your time to ask!

The speedy part is very exciting too (Mum's favourite bit) with the wind in your hair, skimming over the vegetation in the lake at what feels like an alarming speed at the time but really isn't that fast. The boat captains sometimes 'throw in' a couple of speed turns too!
