    Airboat Rides

    Hi
One of my sons is Fools and Horses mad. He saw Miami Twice and since then has wanted to go on an airboat ride. We are going to Orlando in August(wish it was sooner) and wondered if we would have to go all the way down to the everglades to get a ride (which is just too far). Are there any good airboat rides nearer that anyone would recommend?
    regards
    Rodney

Boggy Creek has great air boat rides much better than Everglades (in my opinion). I believe there are two sites but we've only been to the one near to Orlando Int. We went on our last day on route to the airport and it was a brilliant way to end the holiday. There is a small cafe there also.

The Southport version is the better of the Boggy Creek Airboat rides (we think so anyway, having done both on more than one occasion!). www.bcairboats.com

Horse World Stables is also on Poinciana Boulevard so you could combine the two in the same day. TIP - if you're at work, turn the sound down before you click on this site as it has sound effects! www.horseworldstables.com

Well we loved the boggy creek ride - mind you only spotted a tiny gator which we would have missed had not the guide pointed it out. We went during the day and I fancied going again for the evening ride but we had other things planned. Anyway someone said later that there were so many mosquitos at night that you had to cover every piece of flesh or else get bitten to death, so we abandoned the idea!

Boggy Creek also have a special NIGHT AIRBOAT TOUR in Spring & Summer months. This is an hour long and needs to be pre-booked. They also have a facility for PRIVATE boat tours for 6 people.

More recently, I have heard about Cypress Glade Airboat Rides at Lake Cypress, run by Gatorland. Apart from the basic Airboat Ride, they also have Adventure Package Tours with HALF-a-DAY tours, overnight camping etc. Looks interesting, especially if one is the outdoor type.

We did the trip run by Gatorland and found it very good. I cant remember the name of the place so I presume its the one mentioned by Nostromo.

I have never been to Boggy creek though so I can’t compare ...

Maybe, but this Cypress Glade one also comes (for those interested) as a complete day-night Adventure Tour which sounds more interesting.
