    Alternatives to Discovery Cove...

Am planning for February 2005 [exact dates to be confirmed yet]. 1 week in Orlando then 2 x short breaks in Daytona and Fort Lauderdale.

Just been on web site for D Cove and all of FEB 05 is booked.
Just wondered if there are any other suggestions re swimming with dolphins or do D Cove have a 'waiting list' for any cancellations?

Hope people dont mind me asking, especially when so many have more important matters to think about at this time......... keep safe.

They do dolphin swims in the Keys. Our son swam with the dolphins in Key Largo, at a place featured by the BBC in a documentary last year, the one with Tamsin Outhwaite from Eastenders.

We swam with the dolphins there at key largo, it was fabulous. It was organised by the people who do several trips if you want their web site let me know.

I think there must be something wrong with their website at the moment as there is no availability showing all the way through to Feb 2006 which I think is just impossible. I booked for Easter Monday 2005 a few weeks ago and there was good availability (although Easter Sunday and Monday did disappear) at a very busy time of year - I can't believe that every single day for the next 18 months has got booked up in the last few weeks. I would phone them, check with a travel agent or try again in a couple of days. Good luck!

    thanks for that advice.

when i put in my request, for 3 swims, it said no availability for that number during JAN and FEB - one date 24 March i think was free [as it says it will search around the dates that you ask for] but that is no good................

will keep trying, but in the meantime any other suggestions will be most welcome!

i had my eyes lasered a few months ago [been putting off for nearly 2 years] but in anticipation of all the WATER activities for this holiday wanted to be able to SEE and ENJOY............... maybe should have booked the dolphins first!!!

The dolphin swim in key largo is really great and from memory a lot less expensive than discovery cove. Key largo is over 250 miles from Orlando so booking a hotel for a night on the keys is a must. If you go on to the other keys you get to drive along US1 which is the own of the loveliest roads in the world

If you do the actual 2 day trip from Orlando with swimdolphins.com it is $199 for the trip and $135 for the swim but it is a two day trip you get an Airboat ride a boat trip in Miami, a bar b que on the beach hotel accomadation and continental breakfast. The swim is two people to two dolphins and you are in the water for half an hour ! Plus you don't have to worry about driving there I think it is well worth the money !

I would go for this rather than the Discovery cove. We went there a couple of years ago & it was fabulous. Lots of other hands on things as well. I think a lot better value than Discovery Cove

If you do a search on the Discovery Cove topics, you will see that I have posted about a 2 day Keys stay, that we are hoping to do in October this year (storms permitting..........) It's an all inclusive trip, with an airboat ride, swim with Doplhins, gator and snake farm, and 5* hotel, with food. All transfers are included too..... I will post a report when I get back, but it is supposed to be a great trip!

I had problems booking DC at Easter this (last) year and I found that you can often get tickets from other Travel Agents, they prebook places to sell. They do charge a premium, but if you really want those tickets I'll PM you the link.
