hi, I,m afraid I took the easy but risky route $3000.00 cash, (wonder if banks rent deposit boxes[?]) I worked out we really shouldn,t spend any more than $300.00 a day X10 =$3000.00 dollars, could use the debit card but really peeves me that they charge for me to get my own money out.if we then have to break into using the plastic then we know that we will still be paying for the holiday when we get back which we dont really want to do since we want to be saving up for the next hols by then[msnsmile2][msnsmile2]. If you get a Nationwide Debit card, you arnt charged when you take money out and you get a higher
rate. I wwas getting $1:82 today when I got something on the net

I normally do a 100% cash thing as well.
I also separate it into 14 x envelopes as well because I am sad

Never stops me ending up with credit card bills as well though, dang.

M&S always seem to be the best rate when I have shopped around.
In Bristol the 'Going Places' travel agent is directly next door and they have stopped their rate board showing their rates.
They have a sign saying 'Would you buy your underwear from us? No, then check us for currency' (or something along those lines).
I did go in and ask once and would have lost quite a few cents per pound. M&S all the way.

That seems an exceptionally good rate, particularly since the spot rate is between 1.77 and 1.78.

Thats cos they use the business rate and not the tourist rate which is always a few cents
    lower.

    Well done ChrisJ!!!
I did say you get a better rate with a debit cardWe have used both, our Nationwide Debit Card and a TSB Lloyds, with the best results!!! Everything else goes on the CC, it is the lightest and safest way to travel BTW Peeps,I don't know if I should be hurt that when I suggested it earlier, my comment was ignored[msnsad], but when you mentioned it ChrisJ, it was thought to be a good idea [msnwink]Oh well....morning chocolate bar for me[msnwink] and a sulk!!! If you do take a credit or debit card with you remember to take down the card details and the phone numbers for reporting lost /stolen cards. Keep these in a safe place seperate from the cards and hopefully you will never need to use them. Florida is in the main a very safe place but do take the usual common sense precautions and use your villas safe if provided.

    Have a great holiday.
