    New Year's Eve

Right, Lee has decided we are going to Kissimmee for the New Year so what is THE thing to do for Old Years Night? We will have the kids and grandparents in tow so suggestions will be appreciated as we have never visited at this time of year before.

We were there for the Millennium, and spent the day at EPCOT - great atmosphere and very crowded. Don't expect to go on many rides!!
If you get there early, you can leave in the afternoon and go back to your hotel/villa for a rest in the afternoon (with handstamp of course!), and then return for the fireworks at midnight...
Have a great time whatever you decide to do.

I would love to be on Florida over the holiday period.

I have heard that Church St. Station in Downtown Orlando throws a good party.

Or you could of course stay in the parks. Epcot would be our choice.

Hope you have a great time.

What about Celebration Jan[?] They must have something a bit soecial going on[msnwink]I assume you have ruled out the Parks? Or, would a dinner show do the trick? We have never actually done one, and hope to next April, but surely on New Years Eve they will be eben more special[msntongue]

Celebration have a lot of activities planned for Christmas, but i am not sure if they extend to the New Year.

We visited celebration last Halloween, and a lot of the houses were very well decorated. There was a great atmosphere with people just walking the streets and chatting.

I would imagine Christmas would be as much fun, if not better.

You are right Carol - I think the troops would like to do somthing other than Disney (have been told it can take 3 hrs just to get out of the car park after the big Epcot show). Still time for some more suggestions guys[msnsmile2]

I will be on a plane back home probably! Best place to celebrate for us as we had a really disappointing New Year last year. We were looking for something a little bit classier to do. Ended up in the Everglades restuarant in the hotel opposite the conference centre and ended up going home at 2230 hrs as it was so boring, there were about 6 people dressed up, which incldes myself and Mr CDV! We went back to the hotel and watched the ball drop in Times Square on the TV and went to sleep! Different if you have kids though as I am sure the parks will be fun. Weweer at Universal in the HRC at the Millenium, that was ok. I am Scottish and find New Year highly over rated. Who needs an excuse to stay up after midnight and get drunk...not me!

This will be our first Xmas in Florida as we always go at New Year it is less busy after the 2nd. We need to sort the villa out so we are braving the school holidays!!!!!! Jan are we missing you again!!!

    Hi CDV,

We are Scottish as well, and live in a remote village in the Highlands - it is a beautiful rural area, quality of life is exceptional, family time is great, but especially since the millenium the pressure to have a "fantastic" Hogmany seems immense. If it doesn't live up to that "special experiance" of a few years ago then it is a failure.

This is one of the reasons Mrs MTP and myself have been looking for an alternative. Equally we are trying to escape the commercialism of Christmas (I know Florida may not seem the obvious choice!).

I think that since 2000 a lot of people have been looking for something wonderful.

What is important is that it matters to you - be you with people, or be alone, please try to be at Peace.

Sounds lovely, I love the Highlands being a Glasgow girl myself, although left 20 years ago for pastures new!!!
