    Beers: UK vs USA

I must confess that Budweiser is not one of my favourite beers and I found that the choice was not great in Winn-Dixie or Publix compared with a UK supermarket. I personally prefer Becks or Holsten Pils and could not find either in Orlando.

My local Publix sells both, also have you tried some of the Canadian beer such as Molson?

If you local Publix is no good do you have an Albertsons near by they are normally quite good.

I agree with you about some of the chemical infused water derivatives that the large corporations produce under the guise of beer, but then again some of the UK's offerings are also pretty poor.

The US, however, does have a fantastic selection of Microbreweries making great beer that is readily available. Pete's Ales are a particular favourite (Pete's Wicked Ale, the Summer Ale and Strawberry Blonde are all delicious).

From memory Goodings at the Crossroads has a good selection of brews.

To quote H. Allen Smith when he first tasted American beer ...

"Put it back in the horse!"

Completely agree about the microbreweries though. If you ever see Anchor Steam Beer give it a try. It's hard to find as it's brewed in California but it's really tasty ... which I guess means that if you like Bud you probably won't like it.

As said so eloquently by Dave Barry (American comedian) ...

"All other nations are drinking Ray Charles beer and we are drinking Barry Manilow."

(apologies to all Barry Manilow fans).

I always drink Boddingtons in the UK and Bud in Florida. I think both suit the climate and atmosphere. I've tried Bud in the UK and don't like it as it's too gassy and not good unless the weather is very hot. Similarly I would imagine I would not like Boddy's in the US as it would be too heavy.
