    New Years Eve

    Hi All,

I am looking for suggestions for this years New Years Eve. Last year we went to MK, but it was quite a long day as we entered the park at about 10.00 am to be sure of getting in. The atmosphere was fantastic and we would thoroughly recommend it, however the park is exceptionally busy making it difficult to get around with one of their double strollers at times.

The nice thing is that you can usually find a quiet gettaway (eg the path from Toontown to Tomorrowland that goes along beside the railroad track.

Having done this once (and trying the year before, but getting rained out) we were looking for something different, any suggestions? Our kids are 6 and 3.

    Thanks,

    MTP

Not really sure what to suggest.

I've always fancied Time Square for New Year, but that defeats the object when you are in Florida.

I would have normally suggested MK or one of the other parks.

Can you not find out from Guest Servies what they have planned or Contact Universal?

Surely one of these also celebrate the same as MK??

    Good luck in your search!!

Wish we were going to be there this Christmas & New Year!

We're going to Old Town this year to avoid having to be at a park so early. I e-mailed them for info.....

"For New Year’s Eve we will have our Friday Nite Cruise in full force. Cars come in at 5:00pm and they will cruise down the brick streets of Old Town at 9:00pm. We will have live entertainment on the main stage starting at 7:30pm and they will bring the new year and play until 1am. We have three great bars that will be open until 2am. We may even have fireworks this year!"

We also asked about age restrictions as we will have two 13 year olds in our party...

"There is free admission and free parking at Old Town. We do not have gates, so you do not need to worry about admissions (except at bars, they may have an admission price, they normally haven’t in the past).

The bars do have restrictions of age, but you can buy your drinks and walk around Old Town and enjoy the rides and the entertainment on the outdoor main stage. Stores do close at 10pm."

Hope this helps as a suggestion.

    Thanks Maggie,

That certainly is a thought and we have not done any of the Old Town cruise nights in the past. We were looking for something perhaps a little less intense than being in one of the parks and I don't think that PI or CityWalk would be ideal (isn't PI meant to be New Years Eve every night anyway?).

Does anyone know of any happenings that are more locally attended or anything in Celebration (Esprit?)

    Cheers,

    MTP

Celebration have carol services and 'snow' I believe, another freebie we'll be heading for. I think it's on every night? but I'm checking everything out whilst we are there in September - I'll report back my findings on return.

    Hi,

We have done the Celebration carols and snow (on the hour!) which is great fun and a nice way to ease in to the holiday, but I think it finishes two or three days before New Year's Eve.

    Thanks

    Hi,

I just checked their web-site and it says that the Nightly Snowing goes on until 31st Dec - I just wonder if there will also be anything a bit special for New Year's Eve.

    Cheers
