    Eggs...Sunny Side up?

Whenever I'm in a diner I always get confused what to say when they ask how I like my eggs. The only reason I know the phrase sunny side up is because I've seen it in films.

How do I order my eggs?

There was a thread on this a while ago, but how I got round it was to point to the picture
on the menu and say 'Thats how I want it'

'Sunny side up' is what I always think of as a 'traditional' fried egg, with the yolk on the top, like a big yellow sun. 'Over easy' means that it as been flipped over during cooking so that some of the white is cooked over the yolk. The 'easy' part refers to the yolk being runny. I don't know what to ask for if you want the yolk to be firmer though!!

I always ask for them "over easy" so the yolk is runny but the white is cooked on top as sometimes its a bit undercooked for me.

You ask for it over medium, or over hard!!!

    Go for scrambled, much easier.

I always find sunny side up means you end up with a bit of runny egg on the top which I don't like. I tried over easy to get round this but that was pretty much the same. I then tried the next one in line "over medium" and it's spot on [msnsmile2]

When we first went to FL in 1980, the waiter who was from New York asked my wife how she wanted her eggs, and fell about laughing when she quite seriously said "cooked!"

Sunny side up isn't a good choice anymore anyway because of the risk of salmonella poisoning.[msnsad]
