    Somewhere off the beaten track

    Hiya,

Does anyone have any recommendations for non-theme-park type places to visit. Somewhere a bit off the beaten track. I'm not thinking along the lines of boggy creek airboats or gatorland but more along the lines of places like the Lake Louisa nature reserve.

    Huge thanks, Steve.

Silver Springs near Ocala would be my recommendation. It's just beautiful and very relaxing, yet with plenty to do.

We really enjoy visiting the different state parks. Entry is approximately $5 per car and they normally have BBQ pits and large covered shelters for a picnic. Each one has its own natural attractions I have attached a link to the main site so you can have a look for yourself. http://www.dep.state.fl.us/parks/ If you are looking for different things to do during the winter months then why not swim with manatees over at Crystal River our boys thought this was a better day out than one spent at the theme parks.

Winter Park just to the North of Orlando is excellent, with its 'Urban Village' theme. It has parks, botanical gardens, scenic walks, scenic boat tour, galleries, small upmarket shops etc.

Likewise, Mount Dora is another place well worth a visit.

Have you considered a visit to Silver Springs near Ocala? About 90 minutes drive from the villas, but very good place to go for a day. Look them up on their website.

Yes I think Silver Springs would be great; lots to do and see and just if you needed to have a water theme park there is Wild Waters near by and you can get a combined pass[msnwink]
