    BA gets a kicking!

Good article in The Mail on Sunday yesterday by James Gillespie. He tells a sorry tale of getting caught up with Hurricane Charley and Ba,s total indifference to the customer.

BA cancelled it's Friday flight to Gatwick due to Charley it announced this to it's 330 passangers with a typed notice at it's check in desk suggesting all passengers should ring the American reservations line to rearrange flights.

When the reporter got through he was offerd a flight 10 days later!!
Then the best they could do was a flight from Atlanta 405 miles away 2 days later! Would they pay for car hire or hotel accomadtion NO.

The report goes on with more tales of woe and BA's appaling service I read this and winced one family had to fork out $1300 to get home and had to drive to Atlanta.

BA have come TOP of customer complaints report issued by Air Transport Council beating the budget airlines for the year from April 1 2003. After lost baggage what tops the list of complaints? Cancelled flights.[msncry]

I read it and have emailed them with what happened to us, hope they keep on top of the airlines and the
    way they treat their customers

He was on the same flight as my guests who were stranded as they should have flown the day Charley hit.

So I don't think BA behaved any better than VOTP Chris - my guests are writing a strong letter of complaint etc as well. Will keep you posted how it goes - they did tell me something was going in the Mail but didn't specify which one, so will now have to track the story down!

I have been a bit annyed with B.A. today. I went on their site to look at Tampa flights for september and was pleased to find some at £204. It was not until later that I realised that they were one way,but you cannot book one way(!)

If you want to book a one-way with BA, there is a choice on the home screen to go into the relevant part of the site.

I think what Heather did was go through the 'return journey' booking process which shows the prices for the various options for each bit of a return journey separately so that you can choose the best date/time/price option. I like this feature of the BA site as there's nothing worse than fumbling around trying to get a better price and not knowing whether it is the outward or return leg or the time of day that is bumping the price up.

ALthough it's annoying, I don't think many airlines do one-ways for half the price of returns - it's often cheaper to buy a return and just use one leg (although I would worry about US immigration thinking I hadn't left.)
