    MIAMI

    Hi Everyone,

Just got back from a few days in New York, even with the effects of Charley it is great to be back in Florida. We are planning a few days in Miami next week and would like your help with accommodation. Ideally we dont really want to stay in the expensive part, any ideas?

    Thanks for your help

    Hi Sheilaf
glad you're having a great time {not a hint of jealousy there )
Can't help you with a specific hotel, but a few years ago we stayed at Miami Beach. It's about 15 miles from the city, but the bus service is good and cheap. I'm sure you'll get better and more specific advice but have a great time

    take care

Sheila did you want to stay in the beach area again? If why not have a look at the Best Western in South Miami, which is 5 minutes walk from the Metro (12 tickets for $10), or the Hamilton in Coconut Grove or if not there are several reasonable hotels near the airport.

    Hi Sheila,
Some years ago we stayed in the Colonial Inn on Collins Avenue which was very good standard and fairly reasonable , but not sure whether it's still there. It was a 3 star motel but lovely inside - marble floors - comfortable big sofas and crystal chandelier lights. Reception had a separate security with safe deposit facilities.

I stayed at the Winterhaven on Ocean Drive in April - £50 per night per room including continental breakfast for 2. Nice, non-exteavagent little family run Art Deco Hotel about 3 blocks up from Vercacci's (sp?) house.

    They have their own web-site

I stayed at the Deauville Beach Resort on Collins Ave a few years ago now but it was really good. I think their rate is about $79 a night.
