I really don't think so. It takes more than a few days to recover from such a storm. People have died and lots of others are homeless.
Most villa communities are starting to get back to normal and the parks are open as normal but there is still a lot of things to do.
We spoke to our friends who live in Orlando and they say that things are getting back to normal, in and around Orlando at least.
The west coast seemed to get hit pretty hard in places, but around Orlando it seems to be more a case of power lines down, traffic lights out and a few trees blown over etc.
As far as I know the parks are pretty much up and running as normal.

I am still out here and the answer is it depends where in Orlando.
Some parts are OK others are not, for example Winter Park was devesated and still has no power and they have to boil water etc, schools are not back till Monday/Tuesday in Orange and Osceola, if you check some of the local news stations like www.baynews9.com it may help.

Seems to me as when you are safe and sound in your home, you have cleared up all the debris and the pool is looking back to normal, everything looks back to normal, but once you pull out on 192 it still saddens me to see big signs down, trees all over but i am sure it will take months to beautify this lovely place but never fear all will be back to normal and Disney will always be Disney.

Orlando and I drive scarcely affected. 192 west of 1-4 scarcely affected. East 192 and down towards Poinciana showing signs of the twister that went across that area, power still out in some places though coming back on slowly area by area. Likewise the area around Haines City in Polk county. Celebration and Winter Park both have a lot of tree damage , some big mature trees down, heartbreaking.
The petrol queues and queues for fast food are easing as the power is slowly restored, though some areas they say will still be off for as much as seven more days. Notice up in Home Depot, abosulutely no returns of used generators, flashlights or cut lumber!! School kids are still off here, they got another weeks holiday as the schools are still being used as evavuation centres for the homeless. Federal funds for repairs have now been made available to those whose homes are damaged and have no insurance or are underinsured and this may ease the situation. Around the parks, business is pretty much as nornal, none were in any case in areas which were badly affected by a sheer fluke.

In Seminole County we still have folks without power. I was lucky. We lost power only for a short time.
Central Florida has bounced back. The area around Charlotte County is where the damage really occured. Millions of dollars worth of damage. Folks living in shelters.
All you'll see in the Orlando area are some roofs with tiles missing. Some trees with the 'leans'. And debris mostly everywhere.
Orlando welcomes you back. Please excuse our apearence. We're working on it!

Yes i echo that Blott.
A little prayer for those poor souls on the coast and a hope that things will soon be back to "normal"?.
I would like to congratulate this forum on a fantastic job of keeping people informed on a daily basis.
We fly out on the 2/9/04 and now feel a lot more at ease, although i cant help but feel a bit self centered, going on holiday when others have suffered so much.<blockquote id="quote" class="ffs">quote:Originally posted by blott
Jeff, good to hear you were lucky and safe and thinking of those who weren't.
