I think I remember seeing recently that Dollar had to do something to make their 15 seaters available (I cant remeber exactly what but in order to conform they had to do something or buy a new model) but that Alamo 15 seaters were ok.

I'd be interested to know the outcome of this one - I thought they'd changed the laws so that you weren't allowed to rent them at all now.

Certain types of 15 seater have been banned from rentals as they had a tendancy to overturn when fully loaded in certain conditions. The 15 seaters Dollar use are included in these.

Alamo still rent the 15 seaters - I've just not got round to adding them to our websites as they are not a very common option for people.

I had a Dollar 15 seater two years ago, the overhang at the rear makes them very tail happy as they are realy only a small minibus with an extra bit on the back [msnscared][msnscared] very daunting to drive, I wish they had banned them before we got there [msnwink]

Check first before you decide. Dollar's "12 seaters" are mostly 8-seaters with an extra bench seat added, eating into your luggage space. But once settled in the villa, you may not need that extra car (unless your party plans to split-up regularly). Would it be more economical to hire a 12-seater and use a TAXI just for the airport journeys?

That's what we ended up with when we had our 15 seater cancelled - we wanted it for the extra luggage space but we decided to use a taxi if needed for the luggage. We got a good amount of luggage under the seats in the van - and some friends helped out too so we didn't need the taxi in the end.
