which Halloween party?

Hi I am going in October 23rd for 2 weeks, my kids 10,12,14 want to visit one of the parks or somewhere for halloween weekend.
I have looked at Universal but think it might be too scary for my youngest 2 but is Mickeys one too young for my 14 year old? he is quite laid back and will join in most things with the younger 2 but dont want somewhere that is really for tots.
the 2 youngest are quite Young? if you see what i mean and still like to dress up and trick or treat. Me i dont mind i just want to get there.
Also looked on the disney site for info but could not see prices i assume they are seperate to my Hopper park?

I have not been to Universal at Halloween, so cannot really comment on that - but I have heard it is really scary and not for small children.

Mickeys Not So Scary Halloween Party is really just the Magic Kingdom with different lighting, a special Halloween parade (Disney villains), Halloween-themed shows, special fireworks and trick or treating. As you enter the park, you are given a little bag which you take around to various locations for sweets. All the rides are open and there are no lines. There are other little things going on like scary stories on the Liberty Belle Riverboat, but everything is very tastefully done to cater for small children of all ages!!! Loads of people dress up, so it is quite a fun evening and because there are no big lines you can go on rides which maybe you might have missed on a normal visit.

You need a separate ticket to your Hopper ticket. I think admission is around $39. You need to call the ticket line - 1-407-934-7639 to order and they will Fedex them to you in the UK. This is a popular event and tickets are limited for each night, so you should call soon.

The universal halloween party is brilliant, but probably not ideal for a 2 year old, as it is very dark with dry ice blowing every where so you can't see in front of you. And all the time there are gouls and monsters juming out on you.

It is great fun for teenagers.

Have you thought about the one at Sea world. There is no extra cost to get in. And is probably at the right age level for all your children.

We love Halloween in Orlando! Most of our trips have been at Halloween[msnsmile2]The last time we did that time of year, our daughter was 10, and Disney was still great for her (universal was too scary)[msnoo]As they do the halloween theme over a few nights you could do a few things[msnsmile]I would recommend you go onto the Disney's Broadwalk(FREE!) and take part in the stuff going on there, dressing up, trick & treating, mind that is everywhere on the actual day,even the shopping malls, but the kids MUST dress up!! If you go to Pleasure Island just before you have to pay, you will find there tends to be slightly older scaring going on(not too bad, but gouls dressed up, roller skating with chain saws[msneek][msnoo]apear from time to time[msnsmile]In the parks on Halloween Party nights, they do clear you out early, and a new ticket is required to get in( so definately don't use your hopper tickets on days they are likely to kick you out early[msneek]Costumes are really well priced in Walmart, and Target, andmake for part of the fun[msnwink]

Hope everyone is ok after Charley. I'm looking for advice about Halloween. We're in Florida on Halloween itself and a few days either side. This will be our last trip to Florida, possibly for a few years, so I want to make the most of it! I have a 12 and 10 year old. I'm going to try to book Disney for one evening (I know someone posted the phone no. as 001 407 7639 - but will they send tickets to England - and can someone tell me the whole code from England please).

The kids have heard about Universal and Busch gardens - what's the scare rating - considering we might not get a chance to see them again?

I've noted the Downtown Disney advice - any more suggestions?

My kids have asked about 'trick and treating' -I'm not sure about this as we won't know any of the 'neighbours' and don't know the protocol for Florida.

They will send the tickets to you in the UK no problem. That number is the one to dial from the UK but you can also book tickets using the Disney website and I used that for Chridtmas Party tickets

Last year we were in California around Halloween - I was so impressed at the effort people make to decorate their homes and gardens. Make sure you post some photo's when you come back!!

Hi Ana i will definitely post some piccies from my trip, i am still counting the days, 67 now. Glad you enjoyed California, we were think9ing of going there fro xmas, how does it compare to Disney Florida?
On another note.
I have been watching the affects of hurricae charlie, my prayers are with all those who are out there or have friends out there at the moment.
I must confess i never really took too much notice before but now i feel i know people on here who could be affected it does make you think.

Trick & treating is fab We learnt that if houses have their porch light on and are fully dressed with Halloween gear, then trick & treaters are welcomeBut, if there is no decor, or no light on then they don't wish to receive visitorsIt's a good system, but always remember to stay safe! If the kids dress up, they can even trick and treat in shopping malls, restaurants, just about everywhere is happy to offer the candy bowl []We have had many Happy Halloweens in Florida, the parks are fun too, but in a way it is another extra ticket to buy, and not all attractions will be open so be aware [msneek]
Don't forget the Broadwalk has activities on, alot are free too![msntongue]
