    Charging Camcorder

    Hi everyone

Just had a horrible thought that i might get there and not be able to charge my camcorder!![:0]

The AC power adaptar says 'AC In 100-240volts 50-60Hz'

Can anyone reassure me that this will work okay providing i get the standard socket adaptor?

Also i read somewhere that Wall-Mart sell memory sticks, are these compatible with our digital cameras? I have a 128Mb one just now but i have been known to go a bit crazy with pictures and may need to get another one. Alternativley are there any of the booths that are starting to appear over here where you just insert your memory stick and the machine prints out your pics?

Sorry, one quick question just turned into 3 questions [msnembarrased][msnembarrased]

    thanks

    Mack

I've had two different camcorders now and they both charge ok in the US - just use the standard plug adapter. They seemed to take longer to charge than in the UK but I'm guessing that is jut the difference in voltage.

    Hi Mack,
Your charger should be fine if the power in says 100 - 240v . The US system is 120v and I have a Sony camcorder and a Braun shaver which both charge up ok in US. (You'll still need a plug adapter of course!
Haven't bought a memory stick there , but from what I understand the memory sticks are universal. Someone else on this forum is bound to know. [msnsmile]

Have a great time there - don't buy too many electronics (if you're like me you won't be able to resist!!!)

    Mack,

Charging your camcorder will be fine in the US using just a power socket adapter.

Camera memory cards are standard, if your camera has a menu option to format the card I would recommend doing so in the camera then taking and reviewing a couple of test shots to confirm any card is OK before trusting your holiday pictures to it. But all should be fine.

All you need is a US/UK adaptor plug. We took cameras, camcorders, portable hard drives etc and all of them charged on the US plugs without the slightest problem.

I couldnt get my sony digital camera to charge for longer than 2 minutes worth of shots at a time but my panasonic camcorder was fine.No idea why the camera wouldnt charge properly, it said it was and took a while to say full but couldnt be used for too long and I had two batteries so shouldnt have been a dud.

    Cheers, Lesley

Unlike me remember to take the cable and charger unit. We ended up having to go to Best Buys and get a new one. I have left it in the owners cupboard so should be no repeat of the ommission.[msnembarrased]

I have had no problems charging my camcorder and digital camera in Florida, but when we 1st arrived all my rechargable batteries where flat?? I had charged them all up when we left the UK and carried them all as hand luggage so I dont know what happened. We used Wal Greens drug stores to print out all our photos and get them burnt to disc, it was much cheaper than in the UK and keep the memory cards clear. I got a really lovely Album in the Disney Stores and spent my flight home putting all my pictures in it (sad I know but can't sleep on the plane). So by the time I got home I could show everyone my pics!
