My daughter and her friends are flying with Monarch - Gatwick to Sanford at the beginning of September.

Will let you know how they get on - or maybe not if it's a horror story!

Thanks! I'll look forward to that!

We went with TCD last time Kevin, and although the flight and service weren't the best, we flew on time both ways, and arrived in Florida about half an hour early too!

I think it was Thomas Cook who got us there an hour early to Sanford. Don't know who was more surprised the passengers or the Air Traffic Control at Sanford!! Going out with them on Sept 30
Probably tempting fate here, but we haven't had any problems with them so far.[msneek]
May have to eat my words - but hope not. Tried to get booked on a Brittania Airlines which leaves half an hour early on the same date, and who charge £10 extra for the in - flight meals, but it was full, so we were offered the Thomas Cook flight instead - same basic cost but no extra for the meals. Needless to say I took that one!!

If, when you get to the airport you notice the plane has little diagonal upturned fins on the wings you'll probably be fine (Airbus). If it looks old and has a third engine in the tail - batten down the hatches!!

depending on the age of the Airbus, I might have had a hand in making the A300 wings.A very fine aircraft built to the highest standards {not saying that just 'cos I worked on it} it's the way the whole factory is run.

Just to clarify things here - Monarch do not have DC10's anymore. In fact the nose of one of them is now in the Manchester Airport viewing park for visitors to look at. It was broken up at Manchester about 6 months or more ago. They still have A300 and A330 from what I know.

    John,
Did it break up in the air , or on the runway??

I'd like to believe that they don't have any more DC10's but have that uneasy suspicion
that there may be the odd one stored away somewhere (like the green godess fire engines)for
emergency use (Like the next time I have to fly from Newcastle via Monarch!!) [msnsad]

You wouldn't like a Lancaster Linda - they've got outside toilets!!

Anyway - from what John says - your chances of getting a decent plane have just risen dramatically.

Yep, sounds good to me! I'll look out for the engines, and props (just in case!!!)
Oh, I wouldn't mind a bit of nostalgia in a Lanc! I'm sure I could cope with a bucket! Not sure it has the fuel capacity though, so might have a wet landing! Mind you, the were tested in India before being flown over to the UK for bombing, so I'd probably be OK - Shame there's only one still airborne though........
