My sister is comming over at the end of the month. My niece is still on her passport. She's five. Does she need her own passport? I need a quick answer just in case they have to get a rush passport.
Thanks.......[msncool]

Hi jeff and amy your sister will need to get a sep passport for your niece.
All children now have to have their own.
Carrie.
Hi Jeff and Amy
If travelling in less than two weeks she can obtain one from the passport office via fasttrack which takes a week for the passport to arrive. If greater than two weeks then the applications can be submitted at most major post offices who then get it back to you in two weeks. Your Sister will also need to send her passport to have your niece removed at the same time.
Cheers, Lesley

Hi Jeff and Amy,
Lesley is spot on. We have just obtained a new passport for our son. 7 days turn around. You just have to pay an extra £5 and go into one of the UK Passports office "partners" which can be a main post office. They will check the forms, etc and away it goes. 7 days later passport delivered. This was only three weeks ago so even at this time of year it can be quick.
HOLD YOUR HORSES!
I have had no end of trouble with the same dilemma. We have 3 kids on my wife's passport and were told by Thomas Cook (who we booked with) that they would each have to have their own passports. I had also heard to the contrary - and didn't want to lay out £75 unnecessarily.
I have spent several hours on the phone and browsing the internet and writing letters and visting travel shops - and can now say with absolute confidence that your sister does NOT need to get her daughter a passport of her own - so long as she is traveling before 26 October 2004. I have (eventually) got this in writing from both Thomas Cook AND the US EMBASSY [:0].
Coincidentally it is also on the disney world website!
Hope this helps - it would be a tragedy to send off passport and have it 'lost in the system' when there was no need to send it away in the first place [msnmad].
I am happy to give further particulars if required.

Nigel is quite right, i have now just checked myself, as i was given conflicting info when i booked my hol through Thomas Cook, they informed me that i had to get sep passports fpor my children and i had to shell out, so i am very cross with them.
the site i found the info on following Nigels post (Thanks) is www.ukpa.gov.uk
cross Carrie
She'll be fine with her passport as it is. Our children travelled on our passports in March. They keep changing the deadline as to when they need their own wihich is why there is so much conficting information. 26th October is the magic date. No need to shell out extra cash before then.
Cross that one off your worry list !
