Paying for meals on charter flights

Many charter flight agencies now charge for meals on transatlantic flights.

Not being a fan of the food provided in aircraft I declined to pay for meals on a charter flight with Air Atlanta. Yet on both trips meals were served to everyone, including myself, and the stewardess informed me that this is normal practice and she wasn’t aware that some had paid for meals and others had not.

A number of my friends and family who have travelled to Sanford on different charter flights have paid for meals and not once was a voucher asked for by the cabin crew.

Has anyone else had their entitlement for meals questioned by cabin crew? Or is it another way of the booking agencies quoting a low headline flight price and then loading it with booking charge, credit card charge, inflated car hire prices and of course meals.

This year we will be travelling with Monarch, and meals and drinks are included, however, we wnt to Tenerife earlier in the year and didn't pay for meals, nor did we get them. The stewards knew who had paid for meals by their seat number........

We had the same when we travelled to the states last month, everyone was served food. DELTA

BUT when we went to Ibiza in May, the people who had paid got their food, the spare food was offered at a cost of £5 each. MY TRAVEL

I agree that this is another way of may the initial cost look cheaper.

They know if you have pre-paid for the food or not by what row you are sitting in - we did a last minute charter to Orlando with Britannia last October and the people who did not pay for food were sat at the back of the aircraft.

I originally did not want to pay for the food (we never eat much of it) but when I tried to pre-allocate my seats and they would only seat us at the back I soon paid up for the food and got some great seats. Meant we were one of the first off the aircraft [msnsmile2]

Am I missing something here. Delta is a scheduled carrier and always serves food free.

I have just travelled with Mytravel and did not pay for food. We were allocated row number 10 which I took to be a good sign and sure enough we were served food both directions as was everyone else.

    Yes they are and do.
I personally cannot stand most in flight meals, prefer a few sarnies and then have a blowout at ronnies steakhouse.<blockquote id="quote" class="ffs">quote:Originally posted by floridadreamvilla.co.uk
