Friend who has villa

In the heading as well you say friend who has villa, so it could just be that they dont want to disclose financial details to you. They cant have been doing that bad if they had 8 bookings to cancel, i've only got 2 so far for next year.

The "cancellations" i have had tend to be shortly after booking and are usually more that they have not confirmed their booking with the deposit within the specified time. I have had no problem with immigration laws because there is no problem - just a lot of hype! I have had a very healthy interest in my first year with almost 40 weeks booked (and we have had two weeks ourselves) so don't think we could have done better. We have 10+ weeks booked for next year and a steady stream of enquiries. They are from all over the world, mostly UK, US and Canada. Many have been first time visitors to villas and all have agreed we are much better value than hotels and some have already rebooked.
The owner you are talking about may be taking advantage of the sellers market at the moment - his villa will sell in days.

Weve had no problem with cancellations because of immigration laws,

I did have one today from a guest from Saudi Arabia who have aready change the booking twice, a fax arrived saying that they need to cance the october booking as 5 people could not go, leaving only 6 in the party and they will now need to find a 3 bed home instead of a 5 bed,
