The Bear
Many years ago, a well known National Geographic photographer got lost while on a project in wilderness. Wandering aimlessly, he gradually became aware that he was being stalked by a bear. Unarmed and in unfamiliar terriory, he only had an old-fashioned Compass to help his escape. Not really knowing what to do, he went West for 5 miles, then turned North for 5 miles and finally East for 5 further miles. Then, to his consternation, he found himself at the same spot where he had started on his 'escape' route.
So what was the colour of the bear?
-
Was it white because he was at the North Pole Nostromo? Just a guess because of the thought of magnetic influences of the pole coming back to mind from distant science lesson days but I never enjoyed them enough to take too much notice.

Excellent. In the North Pole, magnetic influences would mean following the compass in 3 (rather than 4) perpendicular directions for the same distance will get you back on the same spot. So the bear WAS white.:)

or possibly a very lost and cold brown one!!:D:D:D

A man in a silver sports car parks outside a hotel painted red, and as a result of so doing became bankrupt. Y?

The car was really made out of silver, derived from all the man's life savings. While he was inside the hotel, the car got stolen and with it went all his wealth?

I'm with Ray and Sarah on this one;)

Me too, I bet the hotel was in/on Mayfair.

Your too good, yes it was Monopoly [msnsmile2]

Right here is a good un :-
• There are 5 houses that are each a different colour.
• There is a person of a different nationality in each house.
• The 5 owners drink a certain drink. They each smoke a certain brand of cigarettes and also have a certain pet. No owner has the same pet, smokes the same brand of cigarettes nor drinks the same drink.
• The question is. “Who has the fish?”
CLUES
1. The British man lives in the red house.
2. The Swedish man has a dog for a pet.
3. The Danish man drinks tea.
4. The green house is to the left of the white house.
5. The owner of the green house drinks coffee.
6. The person that smokes Pall Mall has a bird.
7. The owner of the yellow house smokes Dunhill.
8. The person that lives in the middle house drinks milk.
9. The Norwegian lives in the first house.
10. The person that smokes Blend, lives next to the one that has a cat.
11. The person that has a horse lives next to the one that smokes Dunhill.
12. The one that smokes Bluemaster drinks beer.
13. The German smokes Prince.
14. The Norwegian lives next to a blue house.
15. The person that smokes Blend, has a neighbour that drinks water.
GOOD LUCK!!!

Is this in a British version of the game? I would have said Boardwalk!
-
Hi Fans or not depending on the misery.
Teresa; you are still right the game is Monopoly; the sports car landing on the square with a big red hotel, when he couldn’t pay, he went bankrupt.
The Fish question has so far been correctly answered by 3 or 4 people now and of course me because I already had the answer.
-
Are you ready for another, here goes (chuckle).
"Think of words ending in -GRY. Angry and hungry are two of them. There are only three words in the English language. What is the third word? The word is something that everyone uses every day. If you have listened carefully, I have already told you what it is."

there are only two words in the dictionary ending in -gry.

The paragraph below is most unusual. How quickly can you find out what is so unusual about it? It looks so ordinary you'd think nothing was wrong with it - and in fact, nothing is wrong with it. It is unusual though. Why?

"Gatsby was walking back from a visit down in Branton Hill's manufacturing district on a Saturday night. A busy day's traffic had had its noisy run; and with not many folks in sight, His Honor got along without having to stop to grasp a hand, or talk; for a mayor out of City Hall is a shining mark for any politician. And so, coming to Broadway, a booming bass drum and sounds of singing, told of a small Salvation Army unit carrying on amidst Broadway's night shopping crowds. Gatsby, walking towards that group, saw a youg girl, back toward him, just finishing a long, soulful oration ... "
The above passage is taken from the book "Gatsby" written by Ernest Vincent Wright in the late 1930's

I'm not thinking of a bird, though I admit it nearly qualifies. Not superman either for the same reason.[msnsmile2]
