Thanks for the warning Chris....this is one thing we could do without at the moment although I'm sure their cause is justified......
Oh Cripes:(:(:(
No date yet set, but looks as though they are going to hit the summer Holiday, this is some
of the news about it
Baggage handlers at 17 airports including Heathrow and Gatwick have voted to strike in a dispute over pay, threatening chaos to summer flights.
The union said fresh talks would be held with Aviance management on Wednesday to try to avert stoppages.
It said members had voted for full industrial action but no dates had yet been set for strikes.
But any action which did take place would affect most major airports and airlines.
Aviance, which is owned by the Go-Ahead group, employs more than 2,300 workers at Aberdeen, Belfast, Birmingham, Cardiff, Coventry, Edinburgh, Gatwick, Glasgow, Heathrow, Jersey, Leeds Bradford, Liverpool, Luton, Manchester, Stansted, Southampton and Teesside airports
Hope they sort this out quickly. [msnsad]
Hope so too. We are heading out on the 24th (first Saturday of the school hols) and I just know it is gonna be then. [V]
I will keep my fingers crossed that they sort this out quick[msneek]
We're flying from Manchester on July 30th, I really do hope this gets sorted out quckly. Delays coming home I can live with, but delays on the way out eat into valuable holiday time and are aweful.[V]

keep us posted chris[8D][msnsad]

Jan and lee are you flying from Gatwick, we are on the 24th
Hi Everyone
Don't know how true this is but I thought they said on the news that Aviance don't serve British Airways or Virgin. (I may be wrong)
So I hope this won't affect to many people.
As Rob & Carol say it may be worth checking with your airline which company they use!
We are off with Continental on Thursday and was chuffed to find out that the company I work for will be doing our baggage handling - Menzies Services - hip hip hooray!:D:D
Ann-Marie
We are travelling from Scotland on 16th, Gatwick, 17th, but according to the papers here, this is the busiest in Scotland due to local trades holiday.(therefore will be targeted)
Saying that, it was quoted that the baggage handlers involved do not work for BA/ Virgin , but for the charter airlines. Unfortunately, it will undoubtably have a knock-on effect everywhere!!
Keeping fingers and anything I can cross, crossed.
Oh Ann-Marie you have made my day! We travel Continental on the 13th. I've just looked at the tickets and we appear to have been classed as business on the return flight - yipeeeeee.
you own a villa fiona. i thought every trip out was business?[msnwink]
or do i need to see an accountant
trev
Glad you're pleased Fiona. Are you travelling from Edinburgh?
Ann-Marie

Well I can tell you trevlad that the amount of painting and decorating and gardening that will be going on, that to describe it as a holiday is an oxymoron. Only 1 trip a year is allowed for tax purposes.
Ann-Marie we go from Gatwick, we live in the Thames Valley, we have all migrated south except my uncle who is still in Edinburgh.
Fiona
Better check who Continental use to handle their baggage at Heathrow. Menzies Services only do the Edinburgh Airport contract, I'm afraid.
However, here's hoping its all sorted before you go!
Ann-Marie
Chris -
Yes , we are flying with TCD at 12 from Gatwick. How about you?
Jan Lee
We are Virgin on the 11:30 flight
probably see you in customs hall at the other end then :D
Chris - We fly into Sanford so will miss you. Depending how the flight goes we could be back with Virgin next time[msnsmile2]
Where are you gonna be chilling out in Fl
We are flying with Easyjet from Edinburgh on 22nd July and BA from Gatwick on 23rd July[msnscared]Does anyone know who Easyjet use?
Looks like they have reached an agreement, at least the unions have agreed to it, hopefully it will resolved quickly.
That would be great news- Lets hope they can settle this
Its been settled :D:D
Thank goodness for that.:)
Sure is good news :D
No-one is more relieved than me... we leave on Saturday :D:D

agreed to call off thr strike, but the men havent yet
Mind you as they are union led, would assume it would be sorted
Have a great time Boo-Yeah
Wow - that is a relief, my stress levels were already on the rise[msnscared]
