Just received an e-mail from BA showing sale fares of (from) £369 Gatwick-Orlando between 22 August and 7 December. In normal circumstances that would be a good fare. These days it's become a real bargain.
Must be booked by 24 June.
American have responded by bettering these and showing London-Orlando for £317 and Manchester-Orlando from £342 on the same dates. By coincidence I was looking at a fare with AA for November yesterday and today for my dates it's a full £180 lower.
To be honest, I'd expect to see a lot more of these 'sales' over the coming 12 months or so. It's all very well increasing prices due to the cost of fuel and taxes, but at the end of the day airlines can't afford to fly with empty seats. In the current economic climate, with rising day to day living expenses, air travel becomes a luxury. They're going to have to tempt the average punter and cut their profit margin back to the bones.

The profit margin is already very small and in many instances non-existent. Look for more schedule cuts and job losses.

I agree, much as I would like to hope that people tightening their belts will mean lower prices, I expect it will mean more airlines dropping routes and going bust which will mean less choice and higher prices. I guess the other harsh reality is that if you can't sell all your seats you need more money from those you are selling. They are now predicting that oil could hit 250 dollars a barrel which will get passed on to us as well. I am pretty sure we are going to see one thing only happen - prices going up and up and up[msncry][msncry].

I agree, they are increasing them a lot but they are out of reach for a lot of people, what is the good of having empty seats.
thats just typical..... we had waited to see if we could get cheap seats.... we're going 28th august but it was 25th for 2 weeks..... but the flights miles plus money with virgin was going up and up, we finally got from this site £395 each which i thought was very good, virgin m+m £490
Talking about cheap flights. I had no idea we got a real bargain(well it seems like it) when I booked our flights and car hire last September 2007 for our July 2008 1st trip to orlando.
£1390 for 2 adults return and 3 weeks car hire...just checked and the cost is now £2100 for the same flight/car hire[msnoo]
I had thought about waiting till nearer the time before booking but I didn't want to risk it and now I'm glad I booked when I did.
My Son got a late deal and flew over last Friday with Monarch for £160 for two weeks as was also put in first class. I suppose they are some good deals to be had out there.

Has anyone found any outbound ones which arrive in Florida on the same day as departure?

Bear in mind that later this year the MAN-ORD service won't run westbound on Tuesdays and Thursdays and the BA MAN-JFK codeshare is pulled from October. These inevitably result in much reduced options.
In addition, there seems to be a bit of glitch on aa.com today which is showing the problem you're encountering. TIP - if you check by multicity search and put the route you prefer in segments you're more likely to find what you want. I've booked a flight for September earlier today and managed it by that method.

For some reason the AA site has been doing that for a while; as said above it is something of a glitch.
The best flight is via Chicago leaving at 10:30am and arriving between 6pm and 7pm(varies slightly according to the time of year)the same evening.[msnwink]
Return leaves around midday and gets in at 7:30am

Check the rules on charges for checked luggage as these have changed.

That is a good price for that time of year.
