North or South Exit??
Just been looking at the airport route giude on the 192 website.
I've been to Sanford on our last 3 trips but will be going to McCoy on our next trip. I haven't flown into McCoy for 5 years and the last time i did the car hire depot was off site at the Junction of the 528 Beeline and US Highway 15.
I understand the car hire is now on site in multi storey car parks at McCoy, so i am interested in everyones opinion as to which is the best route out of the airport, The North Route to the 528 or the South Route to the 417 which looks like it uses a country road for a while before reaching the Greeneway?

South out of MCO onto the 417 is the best route. The 528 is usually very busy whilst the 417 is nice and quiet. Also I think the 417 is a shorter drive.
-
Fully agree with John, we take the south all the time.
-
South for us too - it's always very quiet :D

We always take 417 south to Celebration and US192 West to HW27, we do the journey in less than 45 minutes. The tolls on 417 are 2 x $1 and a 0.50c toll at celebration (exact change)
-
Same here, South exit and the 417. We did the journey from our house on the 54 in 25 minutes in July when coming home. The road was empty, it was great.
-
We always use the south route too. Don't worry about the road between the airport and the 417 it may be a country road but it is a good road not a dirt track!
-
Same here, have used both but will stick to the South route to 417 from now on - so much less stressful!
-
North exit and 528 for us but it depends on where you're going to I would think.

South exit for us too [8D][8D][8D]

Same for us its so much nicer to drive than the North exit[msnwink]

And us .. so who does use the north?

South to the 417 for us.
We recently directed first time guests this way and they were amazed at how quick and easy it was, especially as finding the villa had been their biggest worry.
-
South every time for us too!
-
Anyone going to I-Drive plus most of the locals tend to use the North exit as Orlando itself is North of the airport.

For me it depends on the hire car company. If I book a rental car with a base on the airport then I use South exit and 417, when I use an off site one to the North so use the 528. The south and 417 is normally a quieter route. Either way, remember some change for the tolls.

I agree it would have to be South to 417 nice and easy road especially after that long flight :)

Will be heading to Emerald Island and using [name edited] for the car who in the past have used Alamo as their local agent.
Are Alamo on site now?? They used to be at the Junction of the 528 and US15.
Do you actually have to go out of the airport at all to sign for your car?? eg at Sanford you leave the terminal building but not the airport site.
-
Alamo are on-site at Orlando International, near Dollar, in the same Car Park, across the road from Arrivals. You sign for your car in the Terminal and then walk out across the road into the Car Park.

I'm flying into MCO in October and this time I'm going on my own. I have to admit that usually I haven't taken much notice of the way to the villa - just let Philip get on with it.
Is the 417 clearly signposted from the Airport and the 192 at Celebration. Realise this sounds a bit of a stupid question but I can just see me getting lost the minute I get there if it isn't!

Tracey its not a stupid question. I drove in May for the first time by myself after going to Florida many times and letting my husband do all the driving. I was on my own aswell and didn't have a problem. The signs for the 417 and celebration are clearly signposted. Would recommend you have change for the tolls very handy before you set off.

Thanks Jill.
Luckily I've got all the change from last time we were over in February so I will make sure they are in my purse!
