Where are you staying? Gulf Coast?
Gary,
Clearwater is an excellent beach and well worth the visit. Very white, fine sand, turquoise sea and plenty to do including parasailing. If you're staying in Orlando/Kissimmee
it's about a couple of hours drive.
If you are in Orlando - Cocoa Beach on the east coast is closer, about an hours drive. Also Daytona Beach. Coarser sand and can be a little cooler from Atlantic breeze but great places.
Hi
Been to both Clearwater and Cocoa beach and although Cocoa was lovely, Clearwater is definately worth the drive!! Beautiful sand and sea...no competition..[msnwink]
Have a lovely time..[msncool]
I recommend you go further South, avoid the crowds and stay in the Englewood area as their beaches are fabulous:)
I love Cocoa Beach but wasnt too impressed with Daytona.
Karen
Bradenton on the Gulf Coast for us - just across and up from Saarasota.
Andy
If you are looking for just a day out to the beach from Orlando then without a doubt I would say Clearwater. Much nicer in my opinion than the Atlantic side.[8D]
thank you all im staying in kissimmee so i may head over to clearwater
we love clearwater beach. Top tip is to arrive early as it is a real nightmare tring to get a car parking space.
All along the Gulf Coast the beaches are wonderful during the day and the evening, all taken a couple of weeks ago

We love Clearwater beach, always have to make a trip there when in Florida. Didn't like Daytona for its beach.[msnsmile2]

Lucky you Andrew. It was our first visit, as a friend had her wedding on Shell Island. Another great beach
It won't be the last[msnwink][msnwink][msnwink]
Clearwater - without doubt.
Try going out for a boat trip on the Sea Screamer - apparently the largest speedboat in the world. When you get out to sea the dolphins jump in the wake. Fantastic!
Carole
Thanks Lynne
No problem Jan, glad you like the photo's I thought the beaches were stunning so I've take loads of photos[msnsmile2]I couldn't help myself[msnsmile2]
I would recommend Caladesi Island near Tampa, park your car, take a short ferry, watch the dolphins en-route, then relax on a fabulous beach for hours or go for a walk around the nature trail and see the 'real' Florida residents!!!!!!!
