Hello everyone
Can anyone tell me the best time to go to Orlando for the shopping sales. It is new year, as it is here, or is any other time better.
Thanks for replies.

new year was excellent this year we had to buy another case on the way back!
Diane, we had some real bargains after thanksgiving which is usually the fourth Thursday in November, needed two cases extra!!! Eric
The best sales we have been to were last year at Thanks giving.
Every thing was reduced.
New Year - without a doubt! I have been known to buy Christmas presents in the New Year sales[:I]
I also agree that the sales at New Year are brillant. We have been in Florida at New Year for 4 years and always got some great bargains.
I think there are always bargains to be had everytime of year!

I would agree with this. Shop around and you will always find a bargain
The best sales we have found are after thanksgiving, usually running for 4 days i.e Thursday thru Sunday. New years sales are ok too though. [msnwink]
On our last 2 trips we have ended up with a new case!
Diane.
There are great bargains to be had at anytime of the year! Got some good buy's in July!
But we are looking forward to trying the sales at Thankgiving!!! More cases will be needed I think[msnwink][msnwink][msnwink]
I might be wrong, so I'm open to be corrected, but I think there are also sales around Labour Day.
Our old MCs staff used to say the Thanksgiving sales were very good - also very crowded/popular. (Have to admit I avoided them on a vert short trip to Orlando for that reason so have no personal experience.)
The day after Thanksgiving is always a Friday and this is known as 'Black Friday'. Most stores open earlier than normal and offer additional discounts for the first few hours, we were at the Premium Outlet Mall last year at 7.00am ready to get some bargains and we did. Managed to do all my Christmas Shopping that day. Hoping to return at the same time again this year.
new year sales sound good when do they start is it straight after christmas like in the uk and are the stores open new years day?
Do the sales start like ours on Boxing Day??
yes the 26th dec is the day they start as in florida there is no such day and everyone is back to work, they are also open new years day
Please please stop all this talk about the best time to shop in Florida, its not good for me because i cannot get there at thanksgiving or new year , it takes me almost 11 months to get Mr visa to smile at me after a Florida shopping spree.
Sales are a regular event in America and there are some very genuine sales throughout the year. If you watch for the major holidays, i.e. Thanksgiving (Nov), New Year, Washington's Birthday, Labor Day (Sept), 4th of July, you'll find some great bargains. The stores will be packed and you should be prepared to wait in cues to pay.
We found shops like 'Best Buys' electrical goods had a Morning Only Sale in preparation for the Thanksgiving Day Sale (Nov) and had cut prices with additional rebates on offer for many electrical items, such as TVs, DVD players, etc. Most rebate offers will only allow one per household so if buying more than one of the same item, make sure you pay for them separately and get separate rebate coupon forms when paying. You'll need different addresses for the rebates.
January is popular for bedding and linens and the sales are referred to as 'White Sales'. The best sales we've found are just before and after Thanksgiving, which kicks off the Christmas sales.
Take care as many airlines are now charging for overweight luggage. When we travel, we take out additional luggage allowance for about £15 each, and we've never had a problem bringing goods back, however, we've watched some families who spent a small fortune on goods to find out they are being charged per kilo overweight charge at the airport to return to the UK.
One way to overcome this is to go out in trainers you want to throw out and leave them there, bringing back or wearing your new ones. This can go for clothes as well. Also, don't bother packing suntan lotions or shampoos as this is all part of your allowance.
Buy the Sunday newspaper for about $1.50 which will have a host of coupons and sale leaflets, and you'll be able to compare shops and prices. On occasion it is even worth buying more than one paper if you find a coupon that will save loads of money.
We recently went to the JC Penny (Florida Mall) sale to find we saved $10 for every $50 spent. This was in addtion to most items already being reduced 20%. The clearance rack proved a great buy with $25 luxury velour pool towels for only $7.13 each. This was a genuine sale and best way to be aware of them is to buy the local Sunday paper available at most restaurants or outside shops. It will be filled with store leaflets and coupons.

We went at New Year and the shops were full of baragins, got lots of xmas dec's, different to what you get here and a nice momento everytime we use them. Ended up with two extra cases.

I also think you will always find bargains no matter when you are there. Saying that we are out for our first Christmas/New Year visit next year and I am looking forward to those sales!!!;)
