Alamo fuel policy
Does anybody know anything about the fuel policy with Alamo. On the voucher I have recieved it states that a full tank of gas must be bought at pick up and returned empty.I was reading one posting that said rental companies charge over the top for gas.Is there anyway round this

Unfortunately both Dollar and Alamo have both recently started doing this on the Fully Inclusive rates. The Gold rates still include a free tank of fuel and are a lot better value now.

Thanks for the info.
Would it be worth my while upgrading to a gold pakage.Any idea how much a full tank is at alamo compared to a regular gas station

John when I picked up my fully inclusive from Dollar last week, I asked whether to return the tank full or empty and was told full...

I suppose the best thing to do is to ask at reception and just hope you can fill it up yourself, even though it only saves a few quid every penny counts and can be spent instead on something that makes us smile

When we were out over easter, Dollar charge 45 cents a gallon more than the average of 1.74 for a full tank.

On my rent thingy it states I get a full tank, so I should be ok I hope

Absolutely everyone gets a full tank Chris when they pick up their car - it's just a question of whether you have to fill it before you return it or not (if not, then how much you have to pay the car rental company to do it for you!).
Actually, I have before now been told to return it with the tank empty but filled it up myself (I'm not very good at following orders! ;)). I got my docket from the car checkers in and then returned to the car rental desk after airline check in with the docket and car rental documents and got a refund on my credit card for the fuel I paid for on arrival!

We were told to return it empty last year, but didnt see the point of driving round and round
to use the gas up, so it was returned with half a tank
