Second Driver
Does the second nominated driver also have to be physically present at the Dollar Desk at Orlando Airport while completing the formalities? I thought that I might be able to do that while my brother-in-law (the other driver) handles the second baggage claim on the 'land side' of the airport.

You both have to be present, because you both have to show your driving licenses and sign for the car.
The best thing is for you and your brother-in-law to leave the rest of the party by the 2nd baggage claim and get down to the Dollar desk as soon as you can. You'll beat the rush then!! Once you've signed for the car then you can go back up and collect the others and your luggage and all go across to the car.

I'm not so sure Carla - I've always gone to the Dollar desk and done the paperwork and just showed them Sarah's driving licence whilst she stands well away looking after the children - never had a problem.
I would advise checking with Dollar fisrt just in case I was just lucky.
-
I was the only person who went to collect the car, they didnt want to see the wife or her
driving licence, but I did wonder if that was the norm
-
With Hertz, alamo, budget & national only ever had to show the second dr.license they have never needed the 2nd driver present at the desk[msnsmile2]

OK, thanks people. I'll check with Dollar and see how it goes.
-
They've always made both of us sign!!!
Thanks for the info. We are out again on 28 Feb and will be getting a Dollar car, so I'll see if they insist on both of us signing this time.
-
We've also both had to sign as well at Dollar.
-
Maybe Dollar demand to see the second driver if the first one looks a bit dodgy? :D:D:D:D
In that case, I would have to take my lawyer along as well!

Just checked on our rental thingy, all it said was that the first named driver had to
fill in their details and present their licence
