I've always used trainers in the major parks and never had a problem. In places like Seaworld, where there doesn't seem to be as much walking, I sometimes wear sandals. The best trainers I've found are plain white leather Reebok ones with a towelling lining. They are really lightweight and you only need thin sox with them.
....and would love to see George in his sling backs!!
Whatever you wear, trainers, sandals, boots have a pair of flip flops in the car so you can collapse into them as you get back to your vehicle and then you still have something on your feet if you stop off at BK, Pizza Hut, Walmart etc etc on the way home.
