If you could have seen him, it took him hours to get them just as he wanted, he has a bit of an artistic flair that I admit I don't have. Still he made a good job of it, bless.[msnwink][msnsmile2]
You have a little gem there, Sarah, keep hold of him, he could come in useful again.
It took 3 of us several days to do ours, and at times I felt like throwing them out of the window! It was so hard getting them even.[msncry]
But we are pleased we went to the effort of doing them. :)
For one of the bedrooms we decided to get this beaded valance thingy. It took my Mum hours to get them unravelled and on the windows. They do look great though.
i will always look at the curtains etc with wonder..........what stories they might tell !!![laugh][laugh][laugh]

I can just about make it out in one of the pictures Paula.:)
All of the houses are absolutely lovely and the pages have been thoughtfully put together, ie the words by the owners, but one little irritating thing if the owner's would note and I hope no one is offended by this but the word PRESTIGIOUS pops up all the time on this forum in the posts and on the pages too. I'm sorry if I'm wrong but surely all these resorts cannot be prestigious? I think it's a word that they have picked up during the builder's marketing of their house when they bought it. It gets a little confusing when you're looking through adverts and you see these kind of words like PRESTIGIOUS or such like on so many pages. I know the area quite well and a lot of them if not most, aren't prestigious, they're just on the newest community of that moment, and obviously as time goes on they get better.
Arby I can see where you are coming from but I for one use the word prestigious for our community as I genuinely believe it is. Lots of the new communities have houses starting above $500k and they are indeed marketed as prestegios by all concerned. There are also established communities that I would say are also prestegious. I believe rates are a good guide and the potential guest can make their own mind up......
Prestigious means having an illustrious reputation; respected which could probably be applied to most vacation home communities although new ones may not have been there long enough to merit this.
I guess we could use some of these words celebrated, distinguished, eminent, esteemed, exalted, famed, great, illustrious, important, imposing, impressive, influential, notable, prominent, renowned, reputable, respected instead?
Yes I think it just would be a little bit more creative to use some other word which would capture someone's imagination. But after the 10th PRESTIGIOUS it gets dull. But all of the above other words Blott I thought were better....might just be me?
Arby, you could say the same about the use of the word Luxury too but it is in the majority of adverts you see:D
I don't think important community has the same ring as prestigious community but hey that is just imo:D Although some of the thesaurus alternates are indeed useable like reputable, impressive and the likes!
Maybe, but remember if people are trawling through hundreds of adverts to find the right home and find it hard enough to decide as it is because of the quality, remember firstly the pictures sell it and then the words will and I just think a more creative approach would be required other than luxury, executive or prestigious. Villa owners should capitalise more on the 'magic of disney' in their words. The pictures speak louder than the words we can see its nice but honestly all those words, luxury, executive, and prestigious are used to death sorry.

Arby your comments are definately something for everyone to think about, but there are owners who do have villas which as executive, luxury and on prestigious communities. I think most owners refer to Disney and the theme parks in general in their adverts. I aim for an adult market but I still mention the Mouse as I know the draw he has.[msnsmile2]
Have to admit CDV that's quite some house you have there! [msnsmile2]

I know the word Prestigious was used about the home builders on Tuscan Ridge in a large write up in Better Homes a few years ago.......and also in a small local building paper........
if you go on a realtors bus tour........everywhere is Prestigious...I think it became the 'in' word .....
I must own up to never reading whats said if I'm looking for a villa for a friend............I think a picture is better than a thousand words.........

That's what I'm saying. Houses are marketed in the states as being on prestigious communities before the plans are out. How can this be? I think the word when used in multitude like it is, is very pompous.
I'm still marvelling at CDV's big house! :D:D

Seems like we are running out of suitable words to decribe our villas....I quite like prestigous, but I guess some of you dont. Good thing we are not all the same, or all our adverts would be identical[msnwink]
Shirley
Maybe I will go with the following.
'Run down community with the odd good thing to say about it'
Maybe people might want the reverse phycology approach....
Most of the communities we visited when we visited are prestigeous, they are certainly more prestigeous than most of the 5* hotels on I Drive.
When I mentioned pool toys at the beginning, I was referring to the floating chairs and recliners that go into the pool, its called that here in Oz, not the little inflatable bits and pieces...should have made that clear. You don't have to have pictures of those, but mention they are there......it does make the pool area more fun to relax in.
BBQs definately are a must, my sisters have looked for BBQs in every link....they want to cook outside when home, for a change!
One villa mentionedd they have flasks/picnic ware/cooler bags to borrow, in the kitchen. That's an excellent extra, and one families will be delighted to hear!
Twiglet, a lot of owners do not have BBQ's (including myself) because of the safety aspect. Spilled fat on a pool deck and pool screens catching fire are just a couple of hazards which can and have occurred in the past. We were advised by our MC when we bought not to have a BBQ because of serious accidents which have happened in the past. There's also the added problem of 'who cleans them'. [msnwink]

I have used the words luxurious upscale, superior, executive to describe my homes
Very hard to find words that mean the same but also sound OK
eg. The spacious family room whats the alternative?
The capacious family room
The extensive family room
The commodious family room
The voluminous family room
Barbara,
They don't have the same feel though.

I am sorry you can call them what you like but pictures speak volumes[msnwink]
The times you see a villa discribed as any of the above and when you look the photos they are nothing like luxurious or any of the other words chosen to discribe the home[msnscared]
Im sorry but floral sofas and basic furniture, and villa back to back with another villa is not my idea of luxury[msnwink]

Julie, these are the things we look for, firstly a nice outlook from the pool, lake or conservation, then we look at furniture, we do not like floral or basic.
It always takes me so long going through them all, but worth it in the end[msnsmile2]

I don't think you need any hints....your write up is spot on.....
I'm not a great fan of the word Executive...........it reminds me of cold New York loft rooms....all chrome and glass....
if you write "orlando villas" is good enough for me!![laugh]
